  1. Yanks are set to fire Mazzilli. I guess he's this year's scapegoat for the chokers in the Bronx. http://www.nypost.com/seven/10272006/sports/yankees/yanks_fire_maz_yankees_george_king.htm
  2. The talent gap is closing . The AL stars are getting past their prime and the NL has more budding stars, e.g. Howard, Miguel Cabrera, and Pujols is only 26. The better offensive production in the Al is more a function of the DH than anything else.
  3. Congratulations to Jeff "Home Run Derby" Weaver who the Yankees dumped for Kevin "Headcase" Brown. Nice move!

  5. Another blunder by Duncan. What a horror show! These two teams play defense like a high school team.
  6. I can't believe that the Skankees lost to these bums. They are a defensive nightmare. They have two stars--the incredibly shrinking IRod and Mags. Everyone else on their roster is unimpressive. They have some nice arms on their staff, but we are not talking about a staff of Hudson, Zito and Mulder. It really would not have taken many moves by the Red Sox FO to have made the '06 team competitive. Jason johnson and Kyle Snyder were not the answer. They were a bad joke, and it demonstrated a total lack of effort by the FO to improve the '06 team. A team with 83 wins is likely to be the World Champion. It just goes to show that this year every team in the post season had a chance to win it all.
  7. Duncan cannot play the OF. There is no position for him on the Cards.
  8. I don't think Sheffield likes any team controlling his fate. He will openly complain about being traded to certain teams and he will want more $ etc. Why would a team want to pay $13 million for him plus give up a player in return for an old man with a one year contract? Teams would have to be convinced that Sheffield would be happy if traded. If not, he could be very disruptive. He could end up being the Yankee first baseman. Seems Sheffield is not to happy about this: http://redsox.bostonherald.com/otherMLB/view.bg?articleid=164385
  9. Boras is a liar.
  10. Yes, he is a cheater, but so was Gaylord Perry, and I would have loved to have him on the Red Sox. BTW I have in the last year or so noticed a number of pitchers wiping and rubbing something off their pitching hands after they have been removed from a game. I have taken notice because, it is always the pitching hand that they are rubbing and cleaning with a towel. I have seen Schilling and Mo do this among others. Maybe many pitchers are using something other than resin to give them a better feel or grip, but they are just more discreet than Rogers..
  11. It would give us a middle of the order with 600 strikeouts from 3 to 6.
  12. Seanez has always been a bum. A 41 year old Timlin is better than Seanez at any age.
  13. Hatteberg did not get appreciably better after age 27. What makes you think Youklis will improve very much? Their production is very similar. They are nice ballplayers, but neither is anything special.
  14. He's a right-handed Scott Hatteberg. I think he would have to be part of a package to get something big in return.
  15. Kenny Rogers is looking for retribution in one post-season for the bum rap given to him by New York fans, both Yankee and Met fans. He has alway been a good pitcher. You don't win over 200 games in the bigs with an almost .600 win % without being pretty good. The overbearing, egocentric world of NY fans and media made him out to be somewhat of a joke in their quest for a scapegoat for their teams' failures. Go Kenny! Make your mark and prove the arrogant *******s in NY wrong. I live in NY and they had me believing their garbage. Now they are intent on running ARod out of town and ruining him. Maybe he will get his retribution with another team.
  16. I heard it on the radio today as I was flipping through the dial. There wer 80 laps left. I couldn't understand why anyone would want to listen to NASCAR. Go figure. Is this something new on Boston radio?
  17. The FO has a lot of work ahead and they know it. I don't think they will get caught with thin talent this year, because they learned the hard way that when you have a thin team and you get a few key bad breaks, the result is an unwatchably boring inferior product.
  18. Like the Yankees, you would choke if money was on the line.
  19. I am sorry. Maybe you are right and it is just a five year grudge over some statements in an article that ARod called him about after it was published. I guess I underestimated his pettiness.
  20. As I have been saying, the Tigers are not as good as everyone (mostly Yankee fans because they refuse to acknowledge that their team choked) is giving them credit. Also, the talent level between the two leagues is starting to close. Having the DH does not make the AL better. I believe this year's interleague results were an aberration.
  21. If letting him walk was smart, that should stand on its own merits. Whether we got picks. That's like getting a party favor or consolation prize. If some of the picks work out-- none have so far, it will attributable as much to luck as to skill, e.g. Hansen has proved nothing at the ML level except that he doesn't belong here.
