I think the steroids scandal was a disgrace for the game of baseball. It was done with the tacit approval of management, ownership and the press. Everyone got rich from the game regaining its popularity after the strike through juiced up Homers. Unfortunately, this almost ruined the integrity of the game as major records fell during the juicing period. At one time I was all for striking the records of MG Wire, Canseco, Bonds and Sosa, but it has become quite apparent that the use of steroids was widespread. Not only did the big hitters use it, but so did the pitchers and the scrubs as well. The playing field was a lot more level than I had initially suspected. I no longer favor striking records, because I don't know how you can accurately determine who did roids and who didn't. Let's not forget the 100 positive drug tests from 2002 that are waiting to be disclosed. This stuff was going on for a long time by a lot of players. As for Raffy, he got caught and he paid the price (a mere 10 games) as dictated by the rules governing the game. I would not scapegoat him because he got caught. The owners and management were complicit in this scandal. If you think Raffie is finished as a player, I would agree that no one should sign him, but he should not be blacklisted because he did steroids. The NFLl is not blacklisting Merriman. He made the pro-bowl and he could be a Super Bowl champion in February.
