I have made some clarifying edits in red below:
In your lifetime the Red Sox have beaten the Yankees 5 times (4 in 2004 and 1 in 2003) when the Red Sox were facing elimination. The Yankees returned the favor only once when they were facing elimination..
Let Gom have his fun. I am sure that he was riding pretty high last year when the Yanks faced the sputtering Tiger team that played well under .500 in the final month. The Yankees were steamrolling into the playoffs and the Tigers looked like nothing but 3 games of fresh pavement. That didn't turn out too well for them. Then we had to endure hearing how good the young Tigers really were, but they weren't as they got their clocks cleaned by a .500 NL team and they threw the ball all over the place like a bad High School team. Let him ride high on beating up AAA pitchers with Baltimore and Tampa. I hope they score 100+ runs this week.
To which years are you referring when you beat us in a game when you were on the brink of elimination other than 1978 and 2003... just curious. That's two games. We beat you in 4 straight games when we could have been eliminated. That's 4-2 in favor of the Red Sox in my lifetime.
Yeah, you may have been drunk and saying "f*** it" in game 7 in 2004, but starting the next day you all hid from us and stayed hidden throughout the remainder of the Fall and Winter.
Right now, Tito is paying lip service about the Division, but the proof is in the fact that he is resting guys if they had a bad night's sleep. If they were in danger of being eliminated from the playoffs, we would not be seeing many of his current lineups and pitching moves. Do you think Pedroia would have been getting a rest today?
Why would I complain about your rotation being on the DL?:dunno:
Yeah, Manny would rather travel with the team, do his weight work, take batting practice and sit in the dugout, but not take his ABs. Huh?
Not really. The only way to lose an extra inning game in the opposing team's home park is by a walk-off of some sort. It was over in a flash. Losing 4 in a row after being ahead 3 games to none had to be like being skinned alive, especially since it had never happened in the history of the game, never mind happening to the greatest franchise in the game.
Kay just came out with the "and a child shall lead them" line. How dramatic. He is indead the savior. I have a question, could the savior go 2 days in a row? Cue the Dad. Joba k's another .234 hitter.
It was a moment worthy of Brian Corey. Here comes Joba for the 9th. Crap! More shot of his dad chomping on a toothpick. I want Mo to go three days in a row.
If Joba's dad cries every time Joba gets a .230 hitter out, how will he react when he loses a game?
Henn and Mo are up in the pen. puhlease use Mo! Puhlease! Joe, you need this game. You want this game. You haven't clinched anything yet. Tampa and Baltimore will be very tough this week.
OMG!! He did it!! He did it!! Cue the Dad picture and Joba pumps hi fisy and does his twirl as the .230 hard hitting Jimmy lind walks back to the dugout after striking out. The crowd is going crazy.
Yankee announcers are hyping this Joba appearance as the "stickiest situation" that he has come into. Oh my goodness, he's facing the fearsome Johnny Lind batting .234 with men on 1st and 2nd with 2 outs. I am biting my nails.
Vizcaino is doing nicely although I'd like to see a higher pitch count. We will see either Joba (in violation of the rules) or Mo for the 3rd day in a row...maybe both. This is great!! The Yankee fans are still chasing the division.
