If the Guardians and the Angels end up with identical record, how would the matchups be decided for the first round?

It think he will go all out for the division unless they fall back by 4 games after this weekend. I don't know this for a fact, but Joe has always been a manager that plays to win every game. He rarely concedes a game today to prepare for tomorrow.

I don't know what his goal is. I am hoping he is still trying to win the division, so he will max out his pen and wear them out before they get to the playoffs.

The Yanks have still have an uphill battle for the DIvision, especially since they will be facing 3 good starters in the 4 games against Toronto and the Sox will be facing the D-Rays. The Yanks pretty much have a playoff spot locked up, and no one will know the 1st round matchups until probably the first game. I would not have burned the pen by using Mo, Joba and Vizcaino in the same game. At most, I would have used two of those three.

It's been uncanny. When they played the Tigers, Sheffield misses all 8 games, Manny missed all but one of six games, Hafner missed all three games, and now Wells will miss all 4 games.

I think that we match up better against LA than Cleveland.

We are going to the playoffs one way or another. The extra home game is nice, but right now it is a toss up who we would play in the first round whether or not we win the division. Cleveland has a better a record than LA right now by 1/2 game. If we win the division we would draw LA. I am really on the fence about who I'd rather face. Sabathia is very tough on us as is Carmona. That could really silence our offense in a 5 game series. We do much better against Lackey and the LA starters. The Yankees match up better against Cleveland. What do you think?

That's a possibility. I hope Tito doesn't get a case of MacNamara Veteran-itis. This is coming from a guy who favors experienced players over inexperienced. I hate the inconsistency of the knuckleball. I also hate chokers like Gagne. You would think that getting the first two out would have given him some confidence.

It's better to find out now that we can't rely on Gagne in the playoffs. This could be a blessing in disguise. Maybe th FO and Francoma will open their eyes and realize that Bucholz could be a reliable late inning option for the playoffs-- similar to K-Rod in 2002.

Gagne's three meltdowns have been absolutely awful. He's looked like a rookie s***ing his pants under pressure. I have a hard time believing that this guy was ever a big time closer. He was missing his spots by a foot in every direction.
