  1. If Pedroia had only been 5'7" he gets Pena's ball
  2. Smart play by Cash. I don't think Crisp could have done better.
  3. I was pissed that Cash was batting in that spot, but he has done he job tonight. He looks almost proficient with the bat. I guess Tek can't catch otherwise they'd pinch run Crisp for Cash.
  4. Corey is scary and Timlin will pitch next inning and he has been scary so far this season.
  5. Yaba Daba Dayhoo is in for the Yankees.
  6. What is that popular phrase on this site. Oh yeah, small sample size. He blows and by the end of the year his numbers would have reflected his suckiness.
  7. On the bright side, this guy Cash has swung the bat much better than I had expected. Hitting better than Mirabelli's last few season should be a very attainable target.
  8. He is a bag of garbage. You won't miss him.
  9. I am being petty? I started this whole conversation by asking Yankee fans how they felt about some of the decisions made last night by Girardi. I only offered my opinion about pitching to Crede which seemed to me to be an obvious error in judgment regardless of the outcome. I don't care if he makes his team take Castor Oil. I was wondering what you Yankee fans thought. Apparently, you are okay with it. I am a bit surprised. I would have thought that Yankee fans would have thought it silly, and maybe even petty, for a manager of rich adult athletes to ban candy in the clubhouse. As you point out, they can get it outside of the clubhouse. Syringes with fake B-12 was okay in clubhouses not that long ago, but now candy is banned. Can coffee be far behind.
  10. Are you also in favor of the candy ban?
  11. I am curious. How did Yankee fans feel about the following decisions last night by Girardi: 1. His decision not to return Hughes to the mound after the rain delay, despite the shortage in the pen with Bruney's injury and that Hughes had been pitching well. 2. Pitching Joba for 2 innings when the Yankees were not ahead and on the road. 3. Pitching to Joe Crede, one of the hottest RH hitters in this young season, with the winning run on second, one out and an open first base. The guy on deck was a very, very light hitting IF. Another Girardi decision: How do you feel about banning candy from the Yankee clubhouse? What next... A ban on beer? Are you starting to see why I think Girardi is a boob.
  12. The pen has been stressed early by the inability of the starters to go deep into games and the missed starts by Beckett and Dice K. I am not as concerned about the bullpen as I am about the starting pitching. I know that you are thinking that I am nuts right now, but no bullpen can hold up over a whole season if the starters don't go past the 5th or 6th innings. The pen can't go 3 or 4 innings every night. The only starter that I am confident will go deep into games is Beckett. Wakefield is the next best bet. After those two, it will be extremely rare that the other 3 will go 6 or 7. I really think that the pen has good depth, but you can't be going to 2 or 3 or more guys as a bridge to Papelbon every game. The pen will fall apart and never recover. If the starters can regularly get to the 7th or later, this bullpen will be fine.
  13. Cash has taken some good cuts and made some good contact tonight.
  14. I am glad that Hansen found himself in the minors.
  15. I think Lester has to be given a pass for tonight. It's the first time he's pitched on 3 days rest, and he had no time to prepare for it. He's taking one for the team tonight.
  16. ...and they added Hanley Ramirez, Dan Uggla and Josh Willingham as every day players and he managed to finish with the 8 th best record of 16 teams 19 games out of first place. Drop Beckett from your list above, and I would consider trading the rest of them to get these three.
  17. Joba k's Quentin on a checked swing, but he walks in a run by walking Crede.
  18. Joba is coming in with one out and bases loaded in the 7th inning in Chicago. Traber and Bruney looked like s***. Bruney didn't cover first base on a ball to the right side. I wonder if Girardi will chew him out for no hustling. He's no Manny and Girardi jumped all over him as a commentator.
