  1. Doctor, heal thyself. You are having a break with reality. Our injury problems started in January when we realized that Curt Schilling was probably done for the season. That is the Curt Schilling who is the best post season pitcher in history. That was a major blow. We lost our best offensive player and the heart and soul of the team for six weeks. We also lost Lowell for the first month of the season. Dice k was on the DL, and our SS is lost for 4 to 6 weeks. You think those injuries are inconsequential compared to losing a 4 ERA pitcher that chokes in the post season, losing a few days of Johnny Damonic, losing a .277 career avg. catcher that hit .300 and drove in 100 runs once, and your other assorted injuries. I don't think you have a good chance of making that case. Let me point out that I am not using our injuries as an excuse. There's no reason to make an excuse since you are not ahead of us in the standings. We are still ahead in the standings. I was just stating my opinion that they had held up better than I had expected without Ortiz. Now, he's back, and I expect the offense to pick up and be more consistent. Stop being a jerk when you were AWOL on this site for most of the season.
  2. I think they have done very well to hold the line while Ortiz had been out for 6 weeks. Now if we getting manny's meds right and the bullpen starts to pitch like last year, the Red Sox will be okay. Okajima has been much better of late
  3. I have criticized the Red Sox FO in past years by comparing them to the Yankees FO. However, I agree that the Yankee FO is not that good. That leaves me with two possibilities: The Red Sox FO doesn't care this season or the conspiracy theory. I am not beyond getting caught up in conspiracy theories. Heck, i am still trying to get beyond the Kennedy Assassination Conspiracy. The problem with the explanation that the Red Sox FO doesn't care this year is what is the explanation for all the other GMs? None of them care? Are they all stupid and got outwitted? None of them had a package of prospects to compare with the Yankees offer? Certainly the Mets had interest. They needed Nady more than the Yankees need him. Something definitely smells, but I am trying to avoid making that my conclusion.
  4. It's been tame, because Yankee fans have been curiously absent from this site for a couple of months. I've been as provocative as ever. A few posters have some of my more incendiary posts in their signatures.
  5. They need to shore up the bullpen, but I don't think they will. However, with their weak remaining schedule that has them playing more home games than either the Yankees or the Rays, they may win the division despite their deficiencies.
  6. That is the reason that I never give them an inch. If you make the mistake of being a good sport and not rubbing their faces in our successes with the thought that your sportsmanship will be returned in kind, you are sorely mistaken. They are the worst-- vicious winners and cowardly losers.
  7. I am so glad that cash is getting all of hi AB s today.
  8. I do think it is time to see what we can get for a package that includes Hansen. He's got great stuff, but he's inconsistent and he doesn't handle pressure very well.
  9. Screw you. You are never as good as you look in a hot streak. Enjoy playing the Angels 10 times between now and the end of the season.
  10. ORS, you know that I hate everything about the Yankees, but if they were able to fleece their trading partners, our FO was out manuevered. Maybe they are better at promoting their prospects. I don't know the details, but the results lead me to conclude one of two things: either the Yankees outmaneuvered the Red Sox FO and did their job beter or our FO didn't want to make a move. They gave us a pretty good indication that they are not going to do anything by their pronouncement earlier this week or last that the "answers were inhouse." Also, I do not believe that the yankees FO is more talented, so I am leaning towards concluding that the Yankees FO wants it more this year.
  11. Girardi is lifting Marte after 1 batter? Interesting.
  12. Two on and one out. Why would he have wanted to PH for Cash? Is he dyslexic (sp.) and he thought Cash was Casey on the line up card?
  13. The knuckleballer is out of the game and it is the 7th inning and we are down 4 runs. When does Terry thinkit is appropriate to hit for the #9 hitter? Does he not believe in PHing? It was a perfect spot to use a singles hitter like Casey.
  14. Okay, enough negativity and ********. It's time for our boys to go after them.
  15. A rare good point by the 2 idiot announcers. If Posada continues to delay the inevitable surgery, he endangers his chances of starting the 2009 season.
  16. I realize that you were being sarcastic. I was just putting my opinion out there that this is no time to be experimenting.
  17. He's not a terrible relief pitcher. My issue with him in the role is that he is not a relief pitcher. This is an experiment by management. They have no idea how he will do in this role. He's a rookie with very little experience and that experience has all been as a reliever. The heat of the penant race with 58 games left is no time to experiment. If it doesn't work out, the trading deadline will have blown by without having made a move.
  18. Maybe the answers aren't in-house. They almost never are. It's just an excuse for the FO to rest on their laurels. They built up a lot of good will last year, and this team has not done a 2006 nose-dive, so they will ride it out as the Yankees are fleecing other teams for reinforcements. The Yankee organization wants it more.
