  1. The Mets rebounded from the error with a 17 hit spanking of the Yankees. The Yankees looked like crap today. They dropped 3 in a row to the Sox, got extremely lucky yesterday and took a beating today. It's not a good sign for them that their pitching has gotten beaten up for two games in a row by a Met offense that doesn't have a lot of punch without Delgado and Reyes.
  2. After his last outing, I asked how many more times do they send Dice K to the hill if he doesn't turn it around. Weather excuses aside, he was atrocious again tonight. His ERA is over 7.50. How many more starts do they give him?
  3. I think we have it covered.
  4. ... or they will take him deep 4 or 5 times. That's a possibility too in that band box.
  5. I really hope that they sign their #1 Slade Heathcott. I want to hear John Sterling's home run call for him. Of course, by the time he plays for the Yankees, Sterling will be in an old age home eating his food through a straw. So, this thread is a useless waste of space as far as I am concerned.
  6. I'm not going to revisit an old argument about the FO performance in 2006 when they publicly took accountability for their bad moves. They went out and committed to more than $200 million for 3 FA players in the off-season to fill the holes that were there after the 2005 season. You can avoid sacrificing the farm and still make good in-season and FA moves. The two are not mutually exclusive. They had no excuse for rolling out the garbage that they had that season.
  7. I don't think Bastardo is a legitimate Major League starter yet. The Phillies need to beef up their rotation.
  8. I don't think 2006 comes close to 1986. The '86 team was a surprise team that was not expected to contend. They went on tremendous run and came within 1 strike of winning a championship. That was heartbreak. The 2006 team was overrated from the beginning. It was a poorly constructed team with a terrible bullpen and a very thin starting rotation. The in-season personnel moves were terrible. You could see that team falling apart months before the season ended. When they sent Jason (the Ultimate Loser) Johnson to the hill to start the first game of a 5 game series against the Yankees in the beginning of August, I thought we'd be lucky to win 1 game. That was not heartbreak. I thought the FO did a piss poor job that year, and they took accountability and made the changes that they needed to make for 2007. In the end, IMO 2006 was a valuable lesson, because it showed them that they couldn't rest on their laurels in a so-called re-tooling year. Fans who pay the highest ticket prices in baseball did not want to watch garbage, and they rolled out some garbage that season--Jason Johnson, Kyle Snyder, Rudy Seanez, Craig Hansen, Lenny DiNardo, Willie Harris, Dustin Mohr and Adam Stern among others.
  9. The remark about you snapping and killing someone was a joke. I don't think we have any murderers here. You are always so serious. You may be easy going, but do you enjoy things. To say that the last few years has been a "positive experience" for a red Sox fan is much different than I would have described it. For me, being a Red Sox fan the last 5 years has been second only to sex.
  10. Our SS is 4 for 4 tonight.
  11. Did that get Drew on his bad shoulder or his bad shoulder.
  12. Okajima just continues to be excellent.
  13. Don't be a wisenheimer, Example. I didn't say that I am not interested in the "heady" part of the game, so stop being snide. We are different, because I realize that Theo nor anyone else who works in baseball would be on this forum during a game, if ever. We've only got fans on this forum and every other forum. We don't work at baseball. For me baseball is an emotional outlet. You need to loosen up. If you keep acting so uptight, you'll eventually snap and kill someone. It's not healthy. Professional baseball people can't treat the game as an emotional outlet, because that would affect their performance. We are not Theo or baseball professionals even if we manage fantasy teams.
  14. He just found out now that the event happened September 9, 2007?
  15. Why? When Victorino made that catch on Youkilis with the bases juiced, did you calmly think that he go a really good jump on that ball and tracked it very well into the glove, or did you yell "Scumbag!!!" at your TV?
  16. Why would I want to pick Theo's brain about baseball. Baseball is not my job. I go to the game to have fun. I know more than enough about the game to have plenty of fun. I wouldn't want to watch a game with a pointy-headed GM who is crunching numbers in his head. I watch the game with other fans who scream and have a few beers. The only reason that I might want to watch a game with Theo would be to get some inside info for betting purposes.
  17. I'd rather watch a game with Lou Piniella than Theo. He's not my idea of a fun night at the ballpark.
  18. Rational fandom? That's somewhat of an oxymoron. It must be boring to watch a game with you.
  19. He takes everything so personally, and it is not even about him.
  20. Phillies have on their hitting shoes tonight.
  21. The rain could screw the Sox tonight.
  22. Sox-Phils lineups: Lugo at short, Youkilis at first Julio Lugo gets the start at shortstop tonight for the Sox and David Ortiz is out of the starting lineup as Kevin Youkilis gets the start at first base in Philadelphia. Red Sox 1. Dustin Pedroia, 2B 2. Jacoby Ellsbury, CF 3. Kevin Youkilis, 1B 4. Jason Bay, LF 5. Mike Lowell, 3B 6. Rocco Baldelli, RF 7. Jason Varitek, C 8. Julio Lugo, SS 9. Daisuke Matsuzaka, RHP Phillies 1. Jimmy Rollins, SS 2. Shane Victorino, CF 3. Chase Utley, 2B 4. Ryan Howard, 1B 5. Raul Ibanez, LF 6. Jayson Werth, RF 7. Pedro Feliz, 3B 8. Carlos Ruiz, C 9. Antonio Bastardo, LHP I am not wild about a lineup with no Ortiz and no Drew.
