It looks like Green's deal with the devil has finally run out.

I haven't seen much positive from him in more than a year at the major league level. I was more critical of him last year when Halladay was not being discussed. He has improved since last season, but it really has been baby steps. This A's lineup is major league in name only. They stink, so it is hard for me to be encouraged by this. He should have been able to go 7 or 8 against this team.

Kazmir's pitch count is very high. The Rays pen will cough up tonight's game. Buchholz will be lucky to qualify for a win tonight. His pitch count is way up.

I am suspicious that this offer leaked. The Sox are pretty good about maintaining radio silence. Either the rumor is baseless or the Sox had some motive to leak it.

Drew is an underperforming ballplayer relative to his contract by any measure. Most people expected him to be better than good. He was expected to be dominant. Theo called him a National Treasure at his press conference. You are employing 20/20 hindsight. When he arrived at Red Sox camp in 2007, it was with much fanfare. They don't do that for merely "good" pitchers. Understanding why they signed him does not absolve them of their mistake. The move was heavily criticized at the time, but somehow they expected a better outcome?
