  1. Are you watching the garbage that Smoltz is giving us? He's managed to raise his 7.03 ERA already tonight. Penny sucks, and Buchholz has shown nothing. Halladay was the move. If all they wanted was Buchholz and Bard, he should have done it.
  2. That's the difference between men and women. You'd never find a man who would say that a twitchy bald short woman was cute becuse of her attitude. Never.
  3. Some sort of smurf fettish?
  4. No one would ever accuse Youkilis or Pedroia of being cute. Same with Yogi and he has 10 rings.
  5. At least we know that Smoltz thinks he is throwing well. That's comforting.
  6. The plan believe it or not would be to use Nick Green in the OF.
  7. It looked like his second foot was coming over the base.
  8. What! You are questioning how VMart will be used? This is obviously a great move. Everyone is saying so. So what that we already have an All Star first basemen with a good back up and a gold glove third baseman who gets backed up by our All Star first baseman. So what that we have a starting catcher and Papi at DH. This is a fantastic move. Whether you sit Papi, Youkilis, Lowell or Tek, VMart is much better than any of them. Of course, I am being sarcastic. Drew has come up with one of those injuries which might linger, but we don't have a productive OF who can fill in for a couple or three games in a row. We don't have a major league SS, and we have 3 SP's that can't go more than 5. Big improvement.
  9. J.D.'s back injury last year started off as a day to day injury and then he missed 6 weeks. He's going to miss 2 or 3 games, which should be interesting since baldelli can't really play back to back games never mind three in a row. They may have to leave Reddick on the roster for a few days.
  10. He overplayed his hand.
  11. Luckily, we have plenty of OF depth. Who comes in for Baldelli when he tires after the 6th inning?
  12. We are covered at 1B. I'll give you that. I don't think first base is a tough position to acquire depth.
  13. But that is just a 5 inning pitcher, and he will not return until September.
  14. The point is that injury replacement and 4th OFers don't have to suck. Roberts was an example.
  15. Baldelli can't play every day if one of the oFers goes down for a couple of weeks or more. He can play 2 games 3 at most each week. That's the problem. He's useful while the other OFers are healthy but not capable of taking the starting reins if one of them get injured. Again, Chris Duncan can't play RF. He can't. It would be like putting Daubach out there. I guess you don't watch NL games. I watch the Cards quite a bit. This guy isn't an average OF. He stinks. His offensive #'s mean nothing if he is chasing balls around the RF corner for Triples all day. After watching him for 2 games in RF in Fenway, you'd be screaming bloody murder. He makes Eric Hinske look like Dewey Evans.
  16. Do you remember Dave Roberts?
  17. If Drew's back, quad or shoulder acts up and he misses 3-4 weeks like last season, you'd be comforable with Chris Duncan in RF. I don't think he has ever played RF. He can barely be hidden in LF. He plays every ball like it is a hand grenade. Anderson can't hit .200. You'd be okay with this?
  18. That's about Smoltz' limit.
  19. You don't think any OFers could have been had? Other than pitchers, there are more OFers on rosters than anything else. Bay is hitting .250. Drew has been in the .230's. Ellsbury is not much of a waepon with the bat and Baldelli has a very unpredictable incurable condition that would prevent him from playing every day if one of the other guys gets hurt. Is it a stretch to think that Drew could go down for a week or two?
  20. Afterthe next turn in our rotation produces a 3 outings of 5 innings or less, you might reconsider your position. The moves today will not help this team catch the Yankees. The only positive that I take from today is that Tampa did not make any moves.
  21. And they could have used help in the OF.
