I never thought I would even think this, but I am really looking forward to Wakefield coming back. Buchholz is in the lead to be shipped to the pen subject to recall to the rotation (gagging noises) if Smoltz continues to suck.

When he is hot at the same time as Pedroia, games like today's will not be uncommon for this team. Unfortunately, with our pitching s***ing the bed today, this win is by no means a foregone conclusion.

That's the real reason why the offense is cooking right now. It's not so much the VMart thing. If Ellsbury had been doing this all year, there would have been no offensive slump.

Bucchholz was so bad today that he couldn't even get the cheap win when the Sox scored 14 runs. At least Smoltz eeeked out a cheap win.

This kid needs to get beyond 5 innings in some of his starts or he will be a big contributor to killing the bullpen.

I'd send him out for the 5th so he could leave on a positive note. I made a mistake in my prior email, because I lost track of the innings due to the snail's pace of this game. I wouldn't send him out beyond that, because I don't think he has it today and you'd just be inviting trouble.

It'll get tested this week. That's for sure. It's a much better offense when VMart plays for Tek, but when Lowell sits, it is not that big of an upgrade.

I think he and just about every other manager tries to get their starters a win. I'm not picking on Tito. They all do it.

What was hiding was the O's pitching staff. We just needed to see them.

He'll give him the opportunity to get the win. I don't agree with that mentality. Team wins, not individual wins are important. I think youngsters need to learn to weather adversity, but I don't think there is anything to be gained from letting him take a beating. I might give him one more inning to give him the opportunity to exit on a positive note, but sending him out beyond that is just asking for trouble.
