  1. Unless you have a stat to prove that players are human, your opinion is invalid.
  2. Most of the guys in my league are in their 20's and early 30's. Most played high school ball, a good number played in college and few went beyond that. The game is essentially the same. The difference is talent level. The psychology and dynamic of closing out a game is the same whether it be high school, college, AA, AAA or the majors. Denigrate my experience if you will. I don't care. I've told you what I have heard from major league pitchers, but I guess you are disregarding that too.
  3. Big squander looming. Come on Drew!
  4. Don't sink to J_E Level. You are better than that.
  5. I think he is still a valuable guy for this team and a very clutch bat.
  6. A big week is ahead. It would not be a good send off to lose to a 1-8 shitbag pitcher. This week is not make or break, but it could give us a good indication of how things will go down the stretch.
  7. Okay, thanks for the advance warning, I'll bring a big firearm.
  8. You asked for an explanation. I gave it to you, you nasty little twit. Like I said get off your ass join a team and pitch a game. Then you will understand, or just ask Tom Seaver or some other pitcher.
  9. Also, I don't think RR has ever been a closer.
  10. It's not a copout at all. Sometimes you need to experience something for yourself before you can understand it. That's why I asked Tom Seaver about pitching the 9th and I didn't ask Rusty Staub.
  11. No, hitter focus is a big component. No one wants to make the last out. Although batter focus is incredible at the major league level, believe it or not the focus level varies in 600 plate appearances over a season. It is more accute with the game on the line. For starting pitching, a big component is fatigue. Another component is that the batter has stored knowledge of what he saw in his fist three ABs.
  12. Pitch a game and you'll understand.
  13. I still pitch ocassionally. Edit: Anyone that's ever pitched in any organized league knows that the last three outs are the toughest to get. I've heard a lot of major leaguers say the same thing. Guys like Seaver took pride in closing out what he started, but still said the last three were the toughest. When it comes to pitching, I'll take Tom Terrific as a good authority.
  14. You ever pitch at any level?
  15. I prefer Girardi Select and Coke.
  16. The last three outs of the game are the hardest. Every pitcher would confirm that. Some guys can't get those outs.
  17. Are rooting for him to be DL'd. I don't get it.
  18. No, one ever said that, so I think you may have lost it already.
  19. He's on a 10 game hitting streak and he went deep for a 3-run HR this week.
  20. If you call me feisty, I swear that I'll come to the DR and knock you around.
  21. Nerdy not geeky.
  22. I suspect a last minute scratch for Drew.
