  1. It isn't conjecture that Cora held back the hitters and pitchers in Spring Training. It is isn't conjecture that both the hitting and pitching got off to a very slow start in March/April. It isn't conjecture that they will approach Spring Training differently in 2020. You draw a different conclusion from this than Remy, Eckersley and I do.
  2. And what is your excuse for not playing the position players either in ST? The hitters weren't ready either in April. Maybe they were worn out from all that post season on hitting. The stupid Spring Training extended beyond the pitchers. Remy talked a lot about that last week.
  3. Vasquez enjoying the juiced ball. If they change the ball back next season, he could go back to 5 HRs.
  4. Even taking into consideration why it was different, it flopped.
  5. Speaking of stupidity an managers, Muscle Head Kapler may go unchallenged on the dumbness scale. The Phillies would be well advised to send him onto his future career as a personal trainer.
  6. Remy and Eck are on record that it was a mistake. The organization will not do it again as we will see in the Spring. Draw your own conclusions. One conclusion is correct. The other is just a denial of the obvious. You are a smart guy. I'll leave it to you to figure out which is which.
  7. Cora didn't do a good job either. There is no reason to retain him or his coaching staff.
  8. To make the case that we would have won a championship without Kimbrel and Sale isn't just a stretch, it is an exercise in futility and possibly idiocy.
  9. They will do things different next spring, so the organization thinks it was a mistake. Take it up with them.
  10. I agree. There are already too any strikeouts in the game.
  11. Beni batting leadoff? Seriously?
  12. It wasn't just the pitchers, Cora wasn't playing the position players enough either. Take a look at the offensive output in the first 5 weeks. The hitters weren't ready for the start of the season either. The whole team was unprepared to start the season. I agree with Remy and Eckersley. Proof positive that this was a mistake will be that Cora will change his approach next spring.
  13. Exactly right. If there is no vacancy for them to fill, there is only one other way to maximize their value.
  14. Yes, but just to be clear they are all on a stupidity scale. I am in the "managers are hired to be fired" camp. I don't see why any of them should be making more than the league minimum. I thought Mike Scioscia's almost 20 year tenure and bloated salary were ridiculous. One World Series win shouldn't give you a 20 year ride. Similarly, Terry Collins 8 year tenure with the NY Mets with an under .500 record was absurd.
  15. Putting any reliance on Pedey coming back or Nunez being useful when Lemahieu was sitting out there. He was the best offseason acquisition by any team. Moncada was necessary to get Sale who helped us win 2 Division titles and a World Championship. You can't have it both ways. Plus, Moncada is not that good. I'd rather have Holt.
  16. As a group, baseball managers are right their with politicians in the stupidity category.
  17. Remy and Eckersley think it was a significant mistake.
  18. It can’t hurt to give Chacin a shot next spring.
  19. Agreed, None of them would have made a difference and we will never miss them. What would have made a difference this season would have been being prepared to start the season in April not May. We’d be right in the Wild Card hunt, but for the sleepwalk through the first month/5 week’s. Plus, Cora never got the team kicked into high gear. They were convinced that they would make the playoffs just by their innate greatness I guess.
  20. The team didn’t play with any sense of urgency this season. I think there was a lot of complacency and that sits at Cora’s feet. He played into the complacency with his coddling and resting throughout the season. At some point, he needed to press down on the gas pedal and inspire the players. The players are too comfortable with Cora. It’s time to move on.
  21. Tito blows Cora away.
  22. Unwatchable. This team quit right after the trading deadline. Mookie inferred in his comments that the team wasn't happy about the lack of activity at the trading deadline.
  23. I think there is a very good chance that Cora and his whole coaching staff will be gone at the end of the season. He deserves to go. The effort that he got fro this group was pathetic.
