  1. This pitchers has the best name in baseball.
  2. He sucks. He's through. Toast! Wake up and face the truth. Ask Red Sox Rules, JimEd and Doji.
  3. If he stays, that is Part I of the decision. Part II of the decision involves VMart. He can't catch more than 100 games. His defense at catcher is a terrible liability and his offense suffers if he catches too much. There is no room for him at first base or DH.
  4. No one has addressed my question about how the Sox will deal with the logjam that would continue if Ortiz returns on 2011. Lowell will be gone, but there will still be a logjam with Youkilis, Beltre (if he can't get more $ elsewhere), VMart and Ortiz.
  5. Lackey got off to such a fast start in Spring Training, but he has been disappointing thus far. I don't know how anyone could feel otherwise.
  6. I did the "I told you so" routine last season, and again I can do it this year. Enough of that. I think that Ortiz will finish the year with over 30 HRs and 100+ RBI. His batting average and OBP and OPS are climbing. He will be anchoring the middle of the lineup the rest of the way. The word will get around the rest of the league soon, and they will start to pitch around him. Here's the question for the board. If he has a very good year, does he come back to the Sox next season, and if so, how do they address the logjam situation? Lowell will be gone, but there's a good shot we will still have Beltre. He'll probably exercise his option. I don't see a big market for him. If Ortiz comes back, VMart will be allowed to walk. That's my opinion... And I am almost always right. Just kidding.
  7. Thames is a disaster in the field-- just absolutely terrible. I was at the Sunday game at Fenway. He's makes the simplest play into an adventure, and any play with any difficulty becomes a disaster. Fearless prediction-- he will not be with the Yankees at the end of the season. I can't see them tolerating his atrocious fielding.
  8. The difference is that Tito constantly gets burned by his stupid moves. Girardi has been leading a charmed life.
  9. Oh, and one more last thing. let's hope that Drew's injury doesn't keep him out of the lineup.
  10. 228, you and I know that Girardi has led a charmed life until now. Sooner or later one of his bonehead moves were going to burn him. He still has plenty of bad moves in the bank which didn't burn him.
  11. One last thing. We need to dump that f***ing gutless ingrate Papelbon for a couple of prospects. Then I can start the 40 year clock waiting to see another closer like him in a Red Sox uni.
  12. I am always critical of lousy play, and they have played lousy for the first 6 weeks of the season, but as I said this morning, I can't explain why good players and pitchers have been playing so badly. I have been waiting for this team to turn a corner. Maybe this series is going to be it. BTW: Ortiz is back, and pretty close to his pre-injury self. Barring injury, he will hit 30 bombs and knock in 100+
  13. In this series, they showed character and an ability to compete with the Yankees on the road. The trip may have accomplished a lot more than 1 win 1 loss. I have had it with some of the negative ions like Example I on this site. Buck up! There is nothing wrong with this team. They will start to put things together.
  14. His WHIP sucked tonight, but his converted save is all that mattered leaving the tying run on 3rd base with less than 2 outs.
  15. Need a k or a pop up here.
  16. After 2 1/3 innings on Saturday and his flat stuff last night, going to Paps may not have been the best move here.
  17. Just this morning I was thinking that Hermida was just a slow-footed hack left-fielder.
  18. Mo sucks!!! Trade him for Papelbon.
  19. Pedroia has never had a hit against Mo.
  20. I've got to give the scrub his props getting a hit off Mo in his first AB against him.
