I did the "I told you so" routine last season, and again I can do it this year. Enough of that. I think that Ortiz will finish the year with over 30 HRs and 100+ RBI. His batting average and OBP and OPS are climbing. He will be anchoring the middle of the lineup the rest of the way. The word will get around the rest of the league soon, and they will start to pitch around him.
Here's the question for the board. If he has a very good year, does he come back to the Sox next season, and if so, how do they address the logjam situation? Lowell will be gone, but there's a good shot we will still have Beltre. He'll probably exercise his option. I don't see a big market for him. If Ortiz comes back, VMart will be allowed to walk. That's my opinion... And I am almost always right. Just kidding.
