  1. Welcome to TalkSox. It's great to have another fan here who remembers 1967 the birth year of Red Sox Nation. Ray Culp was one of my favorites. Brings back memories of Sonny Seibert, Gary Peters, and Dick Ellsworth.
  2. Nice hit by Hermida, the slow-footed hack leftfielder.
  3. Beltre the Banjo hitter. No power from Logjam man.
  4. I like Big Jim. Because he is not a professional announcer and because he is not big on diplomacy, every once in a while he gives you something that lots of other ex-jocks don't-- the honest opinion of the ballplayer. Sometimes you have to listen very closely to understand.
  5. BTW Drew love is up to 82% according to current poll results. Drew lovers can stop being so paranoid.
  6. I thought my Zimmer story had sidetracked the catfight, but I guess not.
  7. Yes, that too. He played Bailey, because he had a bigger pot belly than Zim at the time.
  8. I don't worry about what they make. I leave that to the Internet GMs. I just want the best players that the FO can get for us. I usually get a lot of criticism for not acknowledging the economics of building a roster. I only mentioned Drew's contract, because it has been an issue on this board-- an issue that I feel is distinct from the issue of his ability as a player. He is unquestionably a very good player IMO, but there is room to debate the contract. The contract debate doesn't excite me. I go year to year. I would like Bay on our team this season even though the FO feels that his knees will not hold up for 4 seasons. If he plays fine for 4 seasons without knee problems, I will call them out for being either disingenuous or having an incompetent medical staff or both.
  9. In august of 2004 I got a new boss at work. She was new to the Company and was hired as the Company's top HR/Employment lawyer. She was born and raised in the Bronx and she was a big Yankee fan. In the first meeting with her direct reports, she found out that I was a crazy Sox fan. She reminded me that she was a Yankee fan. She asked how I felt about what Pedro had done to poor Don Zimmer. I told her that I normally am opposed to elder abuse, but that Zimmer had had that beating coming for 25 years since 1978 when he stubbornly relegated Bill Lee to the bullpen and cost us the Division Championship. She laughed and said, why don't you tell me how you really feel. We got along great from that day on.
  10. See edit to include smiley face to indicate that humor was intended. Not looking to be unduly snarky.
  11. At least we can put to rest the hate Drew issue on this board. The poll shows that it doesn't exist to any significant extent.
  12. I got it from these posts by posters who feel he is under appreciated. I didn't bring hatred into the equation, because i don't believe any widespread Drew-dislike exists among Sox fans. Are you following this discussion on Gamecast?
  13. But neutral is not the Drew hate. The outcome of the poll thus far shows that Drew hate is not prevalent.
  14. Reverse lock theory. lol!!!
  15. The vote is looking like a landslide for Drew love.
  16. Piece of s*** Cervelli was show boating on his hit thinking it was a HR, so he ran a double into a single. His fist pump on a Sabathia K of VMart pissed me off. He also started for the dugout on a called ball in that game pissing off the ump. The game will humble this back up hack like it has for much better players than him.
