If they let the Yankees get him, they will not be able to compete with the Yankees for 3-4 years. That is not acceptable. They'll have to find a way.

The Rangers have played much better than I thought they would. After game 1, I was certain that they would blow up in a close game. The Yankees on the other hand do miss Damon and Matsui, if for no other reason than their ability to work the pitch count. One or two long ABs last night could have chased Lee from last night's game after 6 innings. The same goes for the first two games. They really miss those guys.

In a short series, when a team hands you a gift like the Rangers did in game 1, the recipient of the gift almost always wins the series. It"s a huge advantage to have a game handed to you. Despite that, Girardi is doing everything he can to give away this series.

Burnett in game 4 could be Girardi's second big mistake in this series. If CC goes tonight, you also have him for game 7. Burnett could go in game 5 and Pettitte on 3 days rest and Hughes on full rest would be available for game 6.

Hughes in game 2 was a mistake. Pettitte is pitching well and is getting out-pitched by Lee. Pettitte could have won game 2.
