    There were an equal number of reports that Buck wanted out and walked. The Boss clearlty wanted him gone, but he was a popular manager who had taken the team to its first post season in 14 years, so it was going to be difficult to fire him. They needed it to look like it was a mutual parting of the ways. Buck cooperated, because he wanted out due to the fact that he is a huge idiot. Anyone who has a great job and who is successful at that job, but nevertheless manages to irritate the boss to the point of getting discharged is a fool. Buck was his own undoing with the Yankees, not the Boss.

    Ryne Sandberg: for walking away from the last 2 years of the biggest contract in his career to spend more time with his family. When he did that, I thought he was a fool and I predicted that he would come back begging for his job the following Spring. Well, two maybe three weeks later, his wife filed for divorce after her fool of a husband retired to spend time with his family and work on his marriage. He came back to the Cubs begging for his job the following spring. Of course, instead of letting him have the 2 year/ $14 million that he walked away from, they gave him $1 million. A fool and his money are soon parted.

    This just reinforces my opinion that Buck is the second biggest idiot in sports.     I honestly don't know what is wrong with Beckett. He looks dominant for about 4 innings and then the wheels start to come off. He looks to be better conditioned this season, but the same thing is happening in Spring Training. He seems to have no stamina.

    Wakefield got hammered tonight for 3 home runs and 6 runs. I seriously doubt whether Wake can any longer be productive at the ML level.

    From today's Globe article by Shaughnessy about Yaz: http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2011/03/16/out_of_spotlight_yastrzemski_stays_in_game_his_way/ In the article Shaughnessy mentions how Yaz has turned down 6 figure deals for books and $50k for a few hows of work for a Dental commercial. It reminds me of Yaz's final season. Each of the AL teams wanted to honor Yaz on the Sox last trip to their city that season. Yaz didn't want the distraction for himself or the team, but he relented and agreed to short ceremonies in each city, but he instructed them that he would not accept any gifts. Contrast that with Clemens' 2003 season which he announced would be his last season. He was grabbing gifts, autos etc. from all over the AL as he was honored for his fraudulent career. The Yankees lavished him with gifts. I'll bet that the greedy sociopath pig didn't return a single item when he decided to pitch for Houston the following year. What a difference!

    Jacko is a homer!!???? I never realized that. Oh no, we don't have any homers here!!!:lol::lol: I have no problem with Jacko being a homer. I have a problem with him being a Yankee fan.

    Some more observations from my time down here: Papelbon is throwing quite a few offspeed pitches-- a much higher percentage than we are used toseeing from him. If he can master the secondary pitches, he should have a very successful season. Ortiz is still having a lot of trouble with lefties. He looks lost against the southpaws. I'm not crazy about Lowrie being the backup first baseman and third baseman as well as MIF. I like a power stick to back up 1st or 3rd Lin can't hit enough for the majors Iglesias is very small and slight. I can't see him being productive offensively at the ML level. Lowrie will play well enough that Iglesias will see nothing more than a September cup of coffee.
