The theory with keeping these guys is to buy some time and hope that a couple of them pan out. I just don't think there is any possibility of Albers or Wakefield being productive. I'd cut ties with them and let Aceves and Oki start the season with the big club. If they don't pan out, they'll need to look elsewhere. Wakefield and Albers are not depth, unless you are measuring garbage.

Keeping Wakefield and Albers is not pitching depth. One is a "has been", ant the other is a "never was". The should stop deluding themselves about these guys and just cut ties with them.

The Mayor's Cup drama is a tongue in cheek thing by Remy and Francona. I have been going to Spring Training for 8 years. There is no rivalry between the Twins fans and the Sox fans. No one talks or cares about the Mayor's cup. The crowds are very low key, and they expect the regulars to leave the games after 6 innings and to watch a bunch of kids. Winning is not a do or die prospect in Ft. Myers.
