    You are free to have your opinion. I agree with his wife that the guy is a fool. Ryne Sandberg walked away from his 2 biggest contract years to save his marriage. At that time, I made 2 predictions. First, that he would be headed for divorce within 6 months and second, that he would be back begging for his job the following season. She filed for divorce within 3 weeks and he begged the Cubs for $1 million the following season having forfeited $13 million. If your marriage doesn't work when you spend some time apart and you are rich, more time together isn't the answer. As far as their lifetime earnings go, a fool and his money shall soon part. Many major leaguers go broke after making big money during their careers. It's a long list. Sandberg and Dempster got a good head start on going broke the way they handled the end of their careers. You can say whatever you like about them, but I think they are 2 fools.

    Walking away from $12 million makes you a fool in my book. You are free to disagree. He was a double fool for thinking that spending more time with his family would save his marriage. That flopped fast and her first listed ground on the divorce papers was probably that he was a fool for walking away from $12 million.

    I am sick of the replay system too. The neighborhood play never bothered me. If a throw beats the runner and the fielder sells a quick swipe tag, I am okay with that too. It is part of the artistry of the game. On another topic, get rid of the no contact rule at 2B. That was also part of the artistry of the game. A middle infielder jumping out of the way of a base runner as he turned 2 was a beautiful thing. The number of catastrophic injuries prevented by the rule is negligible. The guy who got injured on the play that resulted in the rule was a bum who would have been out of the game shortly even if he had not been injured.

    ERod's value is probably at his highest. Bloomin Idiot could get a haul for him. He will not get a haul for 1 year of Mookie. He made several public statements about making every effort to keep Mookie long term. Trading Betts less than a month before Spring Training would make him look like a liar and a fool.

    This maybe a naive question, but what would happen if one of the high roller fans behind Home Plate picked up the catchers signed from the monitor in front of those seats and started yelling out the pitches?

    I wasn't much of a pitcher, but my approach was the opposite -- the first pitch was up and in at chest level followed by something over the outside half of the plate.

    ESPN Sunday Night baseball has to be watched with the sound off. They fired Schilling for his politics. He was great analyst for pitching. They brought on Mendoza to increase their diversity score, but she is awful and hasn’t improved much during her tenure. The only one who adds value to the broadcast is ARod, but you have to be able to tolerate his massive ego and phoniness. It’s a disaster. I only watch it when the Red Sox or Yankees are playing or my Fantasy week outcome is still in the balance.

    Low cost, possibly, but not low risk. He is a long shot to perform well.

    If you haven't already seen it, I recommend the Documentary "Fastball" that goes into depth about the human limits to see and react to these high velocity fastballs and also into the physiology required to generate the velocity.

    Yep, my recollection was faulty. Was Alex Karras suspended from football at the same time?

    Leo Durocher got suspended for gambling if I remember correctly and he came back to manage.
