  1. But like fairyland pretend s***, they sell books, newspapers and energize radio call in shows.
  2. That ship has sailed. Mookie will realize that there are much better places to live and play than Boston and they will give him more money too.
  3. I am having trouble thinking of a comparable situation. And not that it matters to the budget bean counters, but Mookie was a huge fan favorite especially for little kids -- future ticket buyers. Good move by management. If Mookie left in a year for an ungodly contract, the Owners could say that they tried their best. In this case, they have nowhere to hide. They sent away a fan favorite in his prime.
  4. They dug themselves a March/April hole that couldn't be overcome. We wouldn't have had to win the Division, just a Wild Card. I think they would have had an excellent chance of getting a Wild Card spot.
  5. I was more confident of Price and Sale rebounding than I am of the prospects for the team after this trade. They just waved the white flag of surrender before playing a single game.
  6. Tickets must be going like hotcakes today.
  7. Some work around the edges would have been necessary, but the core team from 2018 is still there and in some ways it would have been better.
  8. Seniors are into streaming content big time. They need to cut costs to support the millennials in their basements
  9. Start lining up the Duck Boats.
  10. I don't see him coming back to the Red Sox, and I don't think bringing him back with a Trout/Harper contract is a good idea. I'd have rather have kept him for 2020 and made a run with the current crew. I think they would have had a shot if they came out strong in March/April.
  11. There are some similarities and notable symmetry in this case. Just a weird set of coincidences or cosmic foreboding coincidence? I prefer to believe it is just a weird coincidence, but Boston sportswriters will latch onto it if the Sox experience any prolonged drought and Mookie wins some Championships.
  12. It’s time for Bloom to work his magic like the Nats GM did after losing Harper.
  13. This is foreboding.
  14. LOL!! yeah, a bit too philosophical. They made him carry their lie. I am clearly blaming the owners for making him into a liar.
  15. You are one of the few posters who correctly characterizes these pitching assets "high reward/super high risk". I don't know which way Bloom will go on this, but he has a huge rotation hole to fill. Maybe he takes one from column A (a 150 inning guy) and another from column B (an injury risk) as a depth move. He's in a tough spot.
  16. Perez is equal to Porcello in almost every way, but he doesn't have Porcello's most valuable trait -- durability.
  17. He was a big prospect for a few years and he has had flashes of promise and brilliance for short periods, but at what point does he become an also ran? I wouldn't take a chance on him unless it was for very cheap $.
  18. Whether or not this move is a good move in the long run and whether or not Bloom successfully and competently implemented a dictate from the owners, I don't know how anyone could view this as anything other than waving the white flag of surrender for 2020. I am glad that I surrendered my season tickets back in December. I have looked forward to each upcoming season and I am looking forward to Spring Training this year. See you in a couple of weeks, Dewey. But I am not very hopeful that this team has any chance at success. I think it is more likely that there will be further in-season dismantling of the team as it languishes throughout the season. I feel bad for Bloom as ownership made him into a liar. When he was introduced, they rolled him out in front of the season ticket holders with the promise to try to keep Betts in Boston for the long term, and then they gave him his marching orders to move Betts.
  19. I know, but I am still going to roll with the nickname.
  20. You can f*** off too. LOL!!
  21. I will not interact with him anymore, but that surely will not stop his insults.
  22. Like I said, f*** off. I am done with you.
  23. I have to disagree. Price at half price is worth much more than a 20 year old Graterol. It was the inclusion of a discounted Price along with Betts that netted Verdugo. That is my opinion. Am I allowed to have an opinion on anything without you insulting me and insisting that I admit being wrong when I disagree with you? f*** off.
