  1. Good move walking Longoria. Don't let their stud beat you.
  2. Wakefield is the other foot.
  3. Run at will on Varitek.
  4. Jennings is doing to us what Crawford use to do to us.
  5. The scrub comes up big!
  6. I think his knees joints have fused together.
  7. After Joyce swung and missed, i went to the kitchen and made a sandwich. When I came back into the room Varitek had just released his throw to second. At least, he didn't airmail that one to CF.
  8. Yup!! Thank goodness that all managers are equally stupid.
  9. Come on Beltran, knock in Papi!! Oh yeah, I forgot.
  10. Ortiz should be hitting third at this point in the season.
  11. What is wrong with AGon?
  12. Let's hope he doesn't get his stuff together. He tends to get stronger as the game goes on.
  13. Eat the ball Varitek!
  14. Way to kill the rally, Bush.
  15. Shields was an idiot to throw a strike to Ortiz with Reddick up behind him.
  16. His performance was terrible this season. He couldn't keep his team in the game most of the despite the fact that it is a top offensive team. He rarely went deep to help the bullpen. Who would have been better? Lots and lots of pitchers with ERA's under 5.
  17. He really wasn't useful this season. His ERA is around mid-5. That is not a good resource even if it is free.
  18. Now, that is very thoughtful.
  19. Miller struck out 4 of the 5 batters that he faced last night. As I posted above, I would have started him over Weiland. I would have had him on a short leash. If he walked 2 batters to start an inning, Weiland would have been ready. I would have taken the chance that Miller would dominate.
  20. In the poll, I voted that they would still go all the way. I still think they have a very good shot at that, if they survive the regular season. If they don't survive and miss by a game or two, Theo gets a big part of the blame for not reinforcing the team. Tito gets some of the blame for games that he gave away with terrible managerial decision such as the damn 7 run rule and sticking with Bard in these last couple of games when he clearly did not have it. He never should have let Bard lose those games. If we lose by 1 or 2 games, it will be a long depressing off season thinking about what might have been.
  21. You can thank me later for in person mojo.
  22. People look at the devastating injuries and rationalize that they couldn't be foreseen and even if foreseen they couldn't do anything to prepare for them. I think this is a faulty rationalization, because if the Sox miss the playoffs they will only miss it by a game or 2. The FO didn't need to do a lot. They needed to provide some depth, not a total equal replacement. The fact is that Millwood might have been that depth-- that insurance, but they released him and never took the opportunity to see what he had. He only needed to be good enough to win 1 or 2 of those games that were sacrificed by sending Wakefield and Weiland to the mound. That's it. He didn't have to win 10 games or pitch to a 3.50 ERA. They let Millwood go and they signed a guy with a bad knee. They essentially did nothing to provide insurance or depth. You don't replace an injured player with another injured player. Theo screwed up. He takes part of the blame.
