    Unless this team quickly pulls itself out of this nosedive, Tito will be making more and more of these stupid post-game remarks. He also said the other day that this will make them stronger. I told you this would happen. I am waiting for him to say that this will make the champagne taste even sweeter. I believe that was Willie Randolph's final stupid statement before the 2007 Mets season was flushed down the toilet. This team desperately needs to take the remaining games against Baltimore at home. If they don't keep control of their own destiny, they will be finished. Today on WFAN, the morning hosts noted that it is just a matter of time for the Yanks to clinch, and all that remains for them is how they want to finish the season and what kind of impact they want to have on the wild card race. They are openly acknowledging that the Yanks may not fight the Rays too hard. I am still hopeful, but very worried. If they lose control of their destiny as this homestand concludes, the cockeyed optimists had better prepare for an ass-reaming, because it will end ugly.

For those people who criticized me for making fun of Irabu, I still think it is funny that he could find a rope that didn't break. He must have got it from a cruise line ship. For those people who mentioned that it is part of his culture, I don"t think hanging is part of honorable Japanese culture. The whole thing was a tragedy, but we should be able to laugh even at tragedies.
