    Phillies per game attendance has increased by almost 10,000 this season, but they are very upset about what DD is doing to the farm system. LOL!

    Yeah, that team had fantastic hitting and pitching. If you have neither, good fielding can help your team be respectable. If you have good hitting or pitching, good fielding can help you to be a winner.

    This reminds me of the argument that closers don’t matter and that the 9th inning is the same as any other inning. I am not sure if you have also made that argument. Defense matters. Pitching and Defense wins and it is easier than building a team with both good pitching and good offense. An adequate defense this season would have added easily 4 or 5 games. Couple that with brain dead base running and you have taken away any chance of contending. No one hear is asking for the best defense, just an average defense.

    Next year is the 5th year of his plan. That is his last stand.

    I don’t think you turn your back on 35+ bombs at a reasonable price. Turner could be kept too. He could split time between DH and spelling Casas and Devers. Neither will carry an exorbitant price tag.

    The whole organization is going in the wrong direction right now. There is no sugar coating it talking about the farm system. Unless that farm system can produce 2 major league starting pitchers next season who can make 25 -30 starts, they will be forced to look outside the organization or they will be competing for last place again next season. Other than Bello, there was no starting rotation in 2023 that could take the ball every 5 days. Even in the age of the bullpen, that will just not work, and we would be well under .500 if we didn’t have both Martin and Jansen.

    I said it before the deadline. Sell everything. They should also have fired half of the front office and the cheater manager.

    This ^ is a bunch of whooey. The only possible explanation is that Cora wants to fatigue the Stros from running the bases and possibly induce some pulled muscles to make it easier to take the next two games.

    31 games left and playing a team ahead of them for the Wild Card and Cora decides to forfeit the game? I don’t get it. Am I missing something?

    Our coaching staff is great. They never mix up anyone’s elbow or batting shin guards.

    I thought Brasier was well past his expiration date and should be moving furniture, but little did I know that he just needed a pitching coach to show him how to throw a cutter so he can perform like an All Star!
