  1. I really would have liked to have seen the Sox get him for that kind of 1 year deal.
  2. This type of thing has been known to work.
  3. It looks like it's another slow news day on the Red Sox Hot Stove front. Come on Ben, do something. You are starting to remind me of a friend of mine who will go back and forth between 2 auto dealers in negotiations for weeks to save $50 on a $20,000 + car. It's so pointless.
  4. I think the answer is that only the good moves are "M_ _ _ y B _ _ l" moves. If they don't work out, they are definitely not "M_ _ _ y B _ _ l". I think you determine whether it is a "M_ _ _ y B _ _ l" move based on the outcome.
  5. Let's stay away from the hot-button term M_ _ _ y B _ _ l. It makes some people go off on a tangent. We are finally getting to the point where we can mention Theo and feel safe in our homes. Mentioning that other term and Theo in the same post is too much too soon for some.
  6. We had better get the big 3 under the care of Batolo's magic fat injection doctor.
  7. We said this right out of the box, and I believe we said it very clearly. If others want to prove false something that is irrelevant , they apparently cannot be dissuaded from doing so.
  8. Honestly, I don't have a clue what point(s) you are trying to make, and it doesn't interest me enough to try to figure it out. I made an attempt a few posts ago, but you refused to answer my questions.:dunno: If you you won't answer my questions, I can't make you.
  9. Wow, talk about nonresponsive babble? I am glad to see that your sense of humor remains intact.
  10. ...and your point is that you like to argue over things that people didn't say by making a continuation of what they meant based on your logical interpretation, and you will continue to argue the so-called implication that was never stated but rather was deduced by your logic despite a clear statement by the other person that they meant something else? That sounds unduly argumentative. That can't be the case. Can it?
  11. Unfortunately, too much of that thinking has embedded itself in our Politically Correct world. Life does go on.
  12. It seems to me that the Moneyball philosophy if followed should apply to acquisitions whether or not a team is rebuilding. I am curious to hear why Theo (a self professed Moneyballer) would not be following a moneyball philosophy in rebuilding the team. I am going to get my notepad.
  13. It is an odd coincidence that the self-described optimists in this forum take everybody and a everything so seriously and they have no sense of humor, except for ORS who would like everyone to know that he laughs at me not with me. Mean-spirited laughter? I wonder if that has any health benefit.:dunno:
  14. I don't mind if someone mistakes me for being younger, even if it is due to my immaturity. At least I like to have a laugh when I am posting in this space, unlike others who are always out to prove someone wrong. That's immature and not fun. BTW: Were my menopausal remarks offensive to you? I'm not surprised.
  15. News Flash: Theo Epstein Abandons MoneyBall Philosophy per certain TalkSox Members.
  16. But it is extremely interesting whether he used the term MoneyBall correctly? Here was the focus of his post as I read it: Why is it interesting? Because Theo was the Sox GM. He went to the Cubs who stunk in 2011 and that had very little talent. A lot of people thought that the Cubs had nowhere to go but up. I am finding it interesting that they could be heading toward a worse season in 2012, but that's just me. You find other things interesting and good for you.
  17. No need to get snotty. I am just pointing out that you were missing the focus of his post and arguing a tangential point. You frequently do that when responding to my posts. I'm not arguing with you, just pointing out that MoneyBall isn't the issue. Let me get the ground rules straight on this discussion board. Am I not allow to agree with or elaborate on another poster's position? If not, that must be a new rule, because I am frequently defending my positions against numerous posters-- almost all the time. You are correct in noting that iortiz is capable of arguing any issue on his own. Heck, he could win most arguments against multiple posters with half his brain tied behind his back just to make it fair. He reminds me of myself in that regard.
  18. Justin Germano? I guess Benny Boy is intent on stocking up the pig pen before he turns his attention to the rotation and the bullpen.
