  1. I was at the middle game of the that series- the one we lost against Nova.
  2. The Red Sox should reach out to Oswalt toward the end of April. He'll be desperate to get out of the house. He will be missing the major league life and be looking for an excuse to get away from the family.
  3. I guess we have seen the last of him. The doctors really botched the job on him.
  4. ^ And now this. So far this morning it has been confirmed that he will not be pitching for the Rangers, Red Sox or Cardinals. Maybe the Tigers convinced him to sign.
  5. Rationalization. We don't know if he is healthy, but we do know the Sox are not getting him, so you'd rather convince yourself that you'd rather see Carlos Silva waddle to the mound every 5th day.
  6. How he handles the starting role will make or break the season for the Sox IMO.
  7. Haha, I didn't remember that you were a jumper. I remember people being bewildered by the team's start. It was bewilderimg. No one including the Red Sox could explain how such a talented team didn't win a few games. It wasn't just a bad start, it was a historically bad start-- the worst start in my 53 years. People weren't happy, but they did what they do when the team plays poorly- they complained. I don't equate complaining or being upset with "jumping off a building.". Leaving the site comes closer to "jumping off a building" in my mind. I do remember ORS uncharacteristically suggesting that Tito be fired. In retrospect, he was probably right. I thought it would have been a panic move with so much time left in the season. That was the most drastic reaction that I remember at the beginning of the season. That was no more drastic than people in 2009 and 2010 who wanted to DFA Ortiz in April and replace him with Daniel Nava.
  8. The editors at the Boston Globe must have removed the reference to Ozzie.
  9. It's still run like the old boys club and it always has been that way. If tobacco hadn't become such an anathema in society, they would still be sitting around the ballpark chomping on cigars.
  10. No one jumped during last year's start or collapse at the finish. Sox fans are survivors.
  11. I didn't know Crawford would be swinging so soon.
  12. Some of it is too specific to have come from people with general access. There are numerous examples. The first one I remember were the stories regarding the confrontations with Nomar and the FO immediately prior to his trade. It seems that there were few witnesses to those conversations, but it was written about in great detail. This organization has been very effective when it comes to plugging leaks about trades. People were basically put on notice that they would lose their jobs if the info leaked, and the leaks stopped. The personal character assassination has been allowed to go on without being curbed. The trade leaks were definitely coming from lower level organization people. If they could put a lid on that, they could put a lid on this stuff too. It's a question of organizational leadership. What is everyone else going to think when your owner is openly questioning and disagreeing with the last big FA signing by his former GM, while the player is still under contract? They are going to think it is okay to bash the guy who left.
  13. Don't start with the Bud Light. The Bud Light at Remys started the downfall of the 2011 Sox.
  14. It's a slow news day in the baseball world ^This move is reportedly being made to free up payroll for Bobby Oatmeal.
  15. MDC had a few real good stretches over a couple of seasons. His WHIP in those seasons was pretty good. He never had a WHIP in the minors or majors close to as high as Carpenter. I don't see the comparison. Plus MDC had a plus curve. Carpenter's curve is reportedly very weak.
  16. I don't think his body type will affect his reflexes, but it will break his body down starting in his knees and legs. If he keeps the weight off, he should be fine. He should play at no more than 205. He's been at 220-225 for the past several seasons. They might decide to part ways with him after the season, but he may still be very productive for 3-4 more years.
  17. Age cracks are strictly verboten.
  18. I saw Youk on the Sox Report on NESN last night. He looks like he has trimmed a few lbs. He needed to do that. Whether he plays 1st or 3rd, he was carrying too much weight. On the other side of 30, it's better to be light and flexible as opposed to muscular and thick.
