    There is one key difference with the example of your daughter. Your daughter does not pay for the lollipopps, the cupcakes or the waffles. In fact, without you, she would not exist, just like the Red Sox would not exist without the fans.

    Yeah, the game started off badly. Dice k was a late scratch after warming in the bullpen and Scott Atchinson got the emergency start against the powerful Phillies. We got behind early, but Blanton loaded the bases for Nava, and he hit the first pitch into the bullpen. I remember turning to my son and telling him that I thought it was the kid's first AB. I don't think he'll ever make it in the majors for any team, but he has one fantastic memorable moment.

    I was at the game against Philly when he hit the Grand Slam. It was very exciting, and he was scorching hot for about a week, but then it was straight down hill. It is pretty clear that he does not have major league skills. He can make contact, but he has almost no power and he is a terrible outfielder. After 2010, I predicted that we would never again see him in a Red Sox uni except maybe for a cup of coffee in September and that he wil be out of baseball in a couple or 3 years at most. He is Morgan Burkhart 10 years later, but Burkhart was better and had more power. I don't think Nava is in the mix for anything.

    On the Sox Report the other day, Gammons was saying that Iglesias needed about 400 Abs at AAA to be ready. It sounded like he was communicating the organizational plan for Iglesias. I think Bobby V would like to take him north, but if he makes the team either Punto or Aviles have to get released. I don't think they are ready to do that until they are somewhat certain that Iglesias is ready.

    The funny thing is that Bellhorn04 started off the name-calling by referring to himself as a pollyanna and namby pamby. He called himself that and everyone blamed the Sawxhead contingent for name-calling.

    A team with the Red Sox resources should have a farm system that is in everyone's top 10. We don't.

    It's a partial grade, a progress report. That's what happens in the real world. People get feedback along the way. Bosses don't wait until a year long project is finished before giving feedback. We comment on player's slow starts or fast starts all the time even though their final stats look very different. The local papers post partial report cards in every sport for the Boston teams. I am surprised that grading a GM's offseason moves seems so novel to people when we debate their each and every move all the time.

    The whole namby pamby and pollyanna thing in this thread started because Bellhorn04 called himself a namby pamby and a pollyanna. The only people called cowards were those who voted an A but who did not explain or defend it. An A grade obviously had to be the result of trolling. Kudos to Emmz to copping to her trolling A. The other A trolls are still unidentified.

    You have a dozen posts and you have been talking trash and trolling since your first post. Plenty of people here talk trash, but they also contribute baseball knowledge. Post something about baseball or enjoy your status as a board troll for a short period before you get banned. It's your choice.

    He's Johnny Troll talking trash with his first post. It's likely that he's an alter-ego of one of our past or present psychotic posters. He'll flame out pretty fast.

    It's hard to choose. If I get to see AGon hit for 20-30 minutes up close, I might be able to take a position on that one.
