  1. What did you see that makes you think he can repeat his delivery from the stretch? I was at the game when they first tried it. He threw 2 or 3 pitches and one almost went to the backstop. Then he left the game and went on the DL.
  2. and he's only 33 years old.
  3. Is this good news or bad news? :dunno:
  4. I was just curious if you had read something.
  5. Albers ERA was approaching 5 last year. Gonzalez' lifetime ERA is under 3.
  6. Neither do I, but there generally aren't many trades at this time of year unless a team is looking to clear a roster spot like the Angels would like to do with Abreu. Have there been any reports that there are pitchers that teams are looking to dump? I haven't seen any.
  7. At least I accused you out in the open and not behind your back. :thumbdown.
  8. Do you think a trade is likely this early in the season? As for Mike Gonzalez, he has had some pretty decent years. I think he could be a serviceable arm, possibly an upgrade over Albers.
  9. How much do you think it would cost to sign Mike Gonzalez? It's opening day and he has no takers.
  10. OMG! And you call me sensitive! After all the insults you have hurled at me throughout the years, you must be joking. I was just trying to say lighten up. You've called me thib skinned many times throughout the years and worse, and I never reported any of it to the mods. Can you say the same?
  11. I only see two guys that are available: Mike Gonzalez and Marte. Of the two, I'd prefer Gonzalez.
  12. It wasn't you. I didn't mean to imply that it was you. I agree with you on not taking the writer's words as gospel. They are either trying to sell papers or curry favor with team management or both.
  13. It must be genetic. It just comes so naturally for me.
  14. When is it that we can take sports writers seriously? Probably when they agree with our own positions. Earlier in the day, the sports writers were cited as support for the proposition that Papelbon is overpaid.
  15. Did you have to point this out? ^ There goes my appetite.
  16. You took the remark as s*****. That wasn't my motivation. Stop going all Oprah on me. Jeezus, do they have you on hormones too!
  17. I think you are right about that. Even though they will not find another reliever with the versatility of Aceves, do you think they should pursue another bullpen arm?
  18. Mike Gonzalez is still available the last time i looked. He is very annoying to watch pitch with all that rocking he does, but he could be a useful arm out of the pen.
  19. Unless he was holding back in spring training, he didn't look to be a real hard thrower. Hopefully, his out pitch is not his fastball. He will need pin point command to be successful in the ALE, IMO.
  20. Let's not forget that he admitted to being unaware that the White Sox were shopping their closer, Santos until he got traded to our division rival Blue Jays. He'd look pretty good in a Red Sox uni right now. Let's overlook that too. We should also overlook the fact that after months of negotiating with the Cubs, he agrees to take a guy with a bone spur in his elbow-- and he is a bum to boot. Offering Ortiz arbitration was a beautifully thought out move too. Starting the season with 3 experienced starters and no full time SS. Are we being too hard on him? Let's put it this way. I am waiting for him to do something right. I do like Cody Ross. I'll put that one in the plus column.
