  1. The best guys go at the top. You don't put some bush leaguer in the top, because he has been hot for a week. The best guys go at the top. You want them batting in the same inning and you want them to get the most ABs. That's how you maximize run production.
  2. Next inning our elite bats will be split up for the second time through the order unless Avile and Sweeney get on base. It's a stupid lineup. You want Pedroia, Youk, Agon and Ortiz coming up in the same inning. This stupid lineup splits them. It's not an effective way to maximize run production. It just is not.
  3. He's a very useful platoon player. He's not a full time player.
  4. I already posted what I would have done and why. ^
  5. Ortiz is just a great hitter. It would have been nice if he wasn't leading of the inning, but Bobby V played the extend the lineup by putting lesser hitters at the top game.
  6. Over 40 pitches and stil in the 2nd inning. I like our pitching.
  7. ...and then he broke his back. It was a lost season.
  8. I hate today's lineup. I have always been opposed to putting lesser hitters like Sweeney or Aviles at the top of lineups to extend lineups. The best lineups have the best hitters bunched together at the top of the lineup so that they bat in the same inning at the beginning of the game and you maximize the number of ABs they get. Pedroia, Youk, AGon and Ortiz are the 4 elite hitters that we have in the lineup. They should be bunched at the top. Instead, we got Pedoia and AGon up in the first, but not Ortiz and Youk. In the 2nd inning, the pitcher only needs to get the first guy out, then he can pitch around the second guy and go after the bottom of the order.
  9. Xaendar Boegarts and another prospect or 2 for King Felix?
  10. The matchups are not going to matter. Even if our guys hold their own or best their guys, we still have to hand the ball to the bullpen. Unless our starters can go 8 and hand the ball to Aceves, we could see some rough late innings. The Yankee bullpen crushes our pig pen. Our offense will need to bludgeon their starters.
  11. Craig Grebeck! He maybe the all time worst offensive player that I have seen in a Sox uniform.
  12. It's a true friend who remains your friend long after they have concluded you are a dick.
  13. From his first Spring training, I could see that he had poise and good command. His stuff was not exceptional, but he had decent secondary pitches. I think he was starting to blossom when he blew out his arm.
  14. Can he play the OF?
  15. Aaron Cook pitched again for the PawSox yesterday. He got a no-decision, but he pitched 8 innings giving up 1 run on 2 hits with 4 walks. Overall, in 3 starts, he is 2-0 with a 1.35 ERA. Don't they have to make a decision on him by May 1st? It's anybody's guess how this shakes out. He could come up and work out of the pen. He could be put in the rotation with Bard or Doubront going to the pen, or they might let him walk to another team.
  16. That would give the team a much needed shot in the arm IMO.
  17. It might be too soon for that, but we should explore sending Salty to the Cubs for Marlon Byrd. Theo always had a mancrush on Salty. He still might believe in his potential. We could get a good OFer in return plus bring up Lavarnway.
  18. He McStinks. He sucked last year too. At best, he should be a #5 OFer or an emergency option from AAA. The fact that he is a starter for the Sox speaks volumes. I have seen plenty of Sox teams with poor pitching, but it is hard for me to remember a time when we trotted out such horrible OFers. Pinch hitting for one of our OFers wit a light-hitting utility IFer journeyman is not something I have seen very often in 45 years.
  19. Definitely over Repko.
  20. My Dad was 86 when they won in 2004 and he lived to see 2 Championships. Yeah, I'm patient, but not stupid. This pen needs to be fixed or it will kill this team.
