  1. Can he play the OF?
  2. Aaron Cook pitched again for the PawSox yesterday. He got a no-decision, but he pitched 8 innings giving up 1 run on 2 hits with 4 walks. Overall, in 3 starts, he is 2-0 with a 1.35 ERA. Don't they have to make a decision on him by May 1st? It's anybody's guess how this shakes out. He could come up and work out of the pen. He could be put in the rotation with Bard or Doubront going to the pen, or they might let him walk to another team.
  3. That would give the team a much needed shot in the arm IMO.
  4. It might be too soon for that, but we should explore sending Salty to the Cubs for Marlon Byrd. Theo always had a mancrush on Salty. He still might believe in his potential. We could get a good OFer in return plus bring up Lavarnway.
  5. He McStinks. He sucked last year too. At best, he should be a #5 OFer or an emergency option from AAA. The fact that he is a starter for the Sox speaks volumes. I have seen plenty of Sox teams with poor pitching, but it is hard for me to remember a time when we trotted out such horrible OFers. Pinch hitting for one of our OFers wit a light-hitting utility IFer journeyman is not something I have seen very often in 45 years.
  6. Definitely over Repko.
  7. My Dad was 86 when they won in 2004 and he lived to see 2 Championships. Yeah, I'm patient, but not stupid. This pen needs to be fixed or it will kill this team.
  8. If I have to wait 37 years from 2007, I'll be 82.
  9. If our pen didn't suck balls, we'd be looking at a walkoff victory in the making.
  10. No, but I got more time behind me than in front of me. The years fly by. When I started rooting fo the Sox in 1967, I never imagined that I wouldn't see a Championship for 37 more years.
  11. You are in high school. You have much more time than I.
  12. This pen is brutal. The team fights to stay in the game and there is no one to trust in the late innings other than Aceves. It's hugely frustrating.
  13. Morales is okay. He had a bad night, but Bobby V had no one to go to when he got in trouble. There should have been someone to face Cruz, but there wasn't because the pen is too thin. As far as Melancon goes, he has looked consistently like s*** since ST opened. How much did our scouts actually see him pitch before we acquired him, because he has nothing. Is he bad enough to be pitching to a 45+ ERA? No, but he is still pretty bad.
  14. Padilla warmed up and sat down in the 8th. Maybe he is injured?
  15. You are right. He had no one else to go to, because he has been handed a s***** pen. One injury to the pen should not turn it into total s***. The Bailey injury should not cause this kind of devastation.
  16. Sending down Melancon was a start. The Rangers are using Uehara in garbage time. He has a live arm and pitched in the ALE. The Rangers have actively shopped him. I'd sign Mike Gonzalez to get a second lefty in the pen.
  17. GFY Cherries!! WTF did you expect with the parade of lame retreads that you signed as pitching depth and the under the radar bum Melancon that you traded for without getting any reliable MLB arms. This kind of s*** was way too predictable.
  18. THe pen bites us in the ass... again. When does it dawn on them to improve the bullpen?
  19. An explosive gaseous load.
  20. He is so bad that he wishes he was DMac or Repko.
  21. Because he is just a little old s***** utility infielder. It's like putting up Alex Cora to PH for an OFer. Your OF should never suck this bad.
