  1. The guy that we gave up in those moves before last year aren't in the majors yet, and I don't think they will make any sort of impact in the next couple of years, if at all. So, I don't think the acquisitions set them back in rebuilding.
  2. He's having a Lackey type year.
  3. I don't know if we have a chemistry issue on the team yet, but morale is starting to sink like a stone. A loser's mentality is starting to take root, and when i=the payers start to see the team as non-competitive, they will start playing for themselves. They'll be swinging for the fences when they should be trying to make contact to move a runner. They'l be trying to stretch basehits when they are down multiple runs, etc. There will be no regard for team or fundamentals. It will be every man for himself. That will breed the chemistry issues. After the Yankee game, the were embarrassed and angry and they played better as a result. However, these Baltimore games have them befuddled. They are not looking angry or determined. Resignation may be not far off. As far as winning in a year or two, you may be right, but I thought 2010 was supposed to be the bridge year. Theo was reported to believe that the next good crop of young players would arrive in 2012, which would have made 2011 also a bridge year. Now, it's 2012, and there is no crop of good young players on the team. We may be staring at another two years of being non-competitive looking forward to 2014-2015. That's a very long bridge.
  4. Clay needs to step up today. The offense should be able to score some runs off Hunter.
  5. Memo to Ben: By the trading dead;ine or even the All Star break, it will be too late. You be too many games behind and you'll have to climb over too many teams. Sit on your hands now and there will be lots of empty seats by July.
  6. Cheer up. This is the soft part of their schedule.
  7. I left in the 5th inning. We went to Remy's to get a good seat at the bar to watch the Derby.
  8. It's time to get rid of him. He will be an ALE punching bag. Plan B is a failure. Time for Plan C.
  9. And we swoon over Sweeney like he is a really good player. He is not. I don't care what the guy is hitting. If we are lucky, he'll hit .280 and he will not hit even 10 HRs. Frankly, I'd rather have Reddick. At least he has a live bat. Sweeney is a 6'4" 240lb singles hitter. He will get some doubles at Fenway, because Fenway gives up more doubles than any ball park in baseball. If David Ortiz doesn't hit, we can't win. He is the whole team.
  10. Darnell McDonald is not life. He's more like baseball death.
  11. I have been waiting for the opportunity to beat these guys down since last September. Instead, we lose the first game with our ace pitching and we burn up our closer for 2 1/2 innings. It sucks!
  12. We will miss Arieta, the O's ace. The Yankees didn't miss him.
  13. They should be wiping the floor with the Orioles at Fenway. The fact that they are not speaks volumes.
  14. He was unbelievable in those 2 innings.
  15. Because the Dodgers picked up bobby Abreu.
  16. You are getting a little whiny. Yankee fans love to see us whine.
  17. We are in Fenway against the Orioles. We should be blowing their doors off. We're not. That's all there is to it.
  18. I root for this team every day of every year, but calling it athleticism when a fat guy bends over?
  19. Bending over is athleticism?
  20. Third reliever - third roll of the dice.
