  1. I agree with this^. Here is what I posted in the game thread, but it is more appropriate here. Bard's first inning was like amateur hour. It was an embarrassment. He knocked his team right out of the game. As a starter, he has not been impressive at all. He has had way too many walks and base runners. He balks like he has had no instruction in how to pitch with runners on base. The biggest thing of all is that as a starter he has had no put away pitch and his blazing fastball is no longer in his arsenal as a major weapon. Frankly, he is just no where near seasoned enough as a starting pitcher to get by without his 97-98 mph heater. He is dog meat throwing 92-93. Time to get him back to the pen where he can be dominating. This is not a reaction to one bad inning tonight. It's my observation after almost one-quarter of the season. He has not been impressive in any of his starts. Even in his starts that he won, he wasn't impressive. He was just okay.
  2. There has been a lot of misinformation about Oswalt's situation since last year.
  3. Just get him in a Red Sox uniform. He's better than 3 of the 5 starters if he pitches lousy for Oswalt. If he is healthy, he can outpitch Beckett and Lester too. Get Bard back in the pen where he can be useful. And send Dice K back to Japan. He's useless to the Red Sox.
  4. Kevin Millwood with a 2 hit shutout of Colorado tonight.

  6. It was like a solid bowel movement-- that first year.
  7. f*** him. He's a high paid executive with zero business training. He didn't win a single game for the Sox and now he is presiding over a last place team is the shittiest division in baseball. Good riddance. That being said, I would still buy him a drink firing Forest Gump the day after the 2003 World Series was concluded.
  8. It felt damn good. Let me add that I am sick of interleague play. I am sick of a schedule that puts our best hitter on the bench, because the 2 leagues play by different rules. Enough already.
  9. I am not saying that poduction stinks. It is pretty damn good, but 25 HRs is not worth $22 million/year for a first baseman. He is falling short of what people thought he would do at Fenway. There's no way I would have taken a bet at the beginning of last year that he would hit less than 35 HRs. This year I am willing to take SFF's sig bet if the HR amount is 35. I am not complaining about Gonzo. I love guys that hit .300 with .900 OPS. I am criticizing Theo for spending money the wrong way.
  10. So much for Gonzo playing RF. f*** this stupid lineup, and f*** Theo for getting a guy that knocks our best hitter out of the lineup when we play in an NL park. *******! All the worst in Chicago, dumbbell! Oh that's right, he has the Cubbies in last place doing worse than last year. Poor Cubs fans. They should have hired Dan Duquette to build the team and brought Theo in later to take the credit.
  11. To pay the a first baseman the kind of money paid to Gonzo, IMO he should be the best of the best. He is not. For half his price, I'll take Konerko and use the money saved on a higher premium position.
  12. It looks like the State of Rhode Island can't get enough of Curt Schilling's underhanded business practices:
  13. Expecting him to come back and be effective is unrealistic IMO. Never mind that he is rehabbing from injury, he hasn't been good for two yeas prior to his elbow injury.
  14. His career OPS is closer to Dunn's that Texeira's. Not only doesn't he not compare to Pujols, but he doesn't come close to Miggy Cabrera, Fielder and Ortiz.
  15. Wow!! I have to think he would be more crucial to the Red Sox' chances than for the Phillies. I'd love to add him. Who would hit the pen?
  16. Make it 35 HR and I'll take the bet. Most of us expected that he would be a 35+ HR guy when we got him. Right now, we have a Paul Konerko type player for almost twice the price.
  17. My comparison was based on career numbers. I should have been specific about that. Based on career numbers, he is closer to Adam Dunn than the others.
  18. He hit 27 HRs last season and he has 2 so far this year. If he is going to be a 25 HR guy, he is not worth $154 million. Ortiz in his prime was putting up 25 HRs by the All Star break and he is still the better hitter of the two. First baseman that hit 25 bombs are not that hard to find. We expected him to be a 35+ HR guy in the class of Pujols, Miggy Cabrera and Fielder. Thus far, he is not.
  19. Steroids did damage the statistical integrity of the game, but it wasn't just the players. The owners, management, the Commissioner and even the Press were complicit in the steroid era.
  20. Do we play home and away series against the Phillies this year?
