  1. Wow, Theo took over a Cubs team that had lost 91 games and improved them to 101 losses with one game to go. My goodness, I don't think rebuilding is supposed to go in reverse when you are already a s***** team. They are an unwatchable team. They have one big talent on the team-- Castro, and he looks to be fairly uncoachable.
  2. It would be sweet to make the Yankees sweat tomorrow.
  3. Ciriaco gets walked intentionally? Wow, that's how helpless Iglesias is at bat that they will walk Ciriaco intentionally.
  4. I agree with this. They didn't do what needed to be done in the FO and we knew they had a thin margin for error and the wheels came off this team quickly and spectacularly.
  5. He is as steady and reliable as there is among closers.
  6. We had the worst bullpen in the league in late and close situations.
  7. Or maybe he left town because the FO never made him an offer or gave him any indication that he was going to get an offer. Papelbon has been as steady as could be for 7 years-- consistently excellent.
  8. The entire season has been the obvious culmination of prolonged incompetence. I've watched it play out all season long and last September. It needs to be called what it is over and over. There's no debating the point. I don't know why it bothers you. I am not arguing with anyone or starting a fight. You have used every thread to talk about getting a top draft choice. I have found that repetitive, annoying and depressing, but I didn't give you guidelines for posting. Don't give me any.
  9. He should have stuck with Breslow against Granderson. He has a tough time with lefties.
  10. Bailey doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same breath with Papelbon.
  11. Cano will torch him. He's been red hot and Melancon stinks.
  12. Because he is an embarrassment.
  13. This guy really stinks. My goodness. He can't compete in a big time division. His ERA is at 7 where his tandem partner has been most of the year --Melancon.
  14. How about a closer for closer.
  15. When he blows a save, it isn't even a battle. He just gets over-matched.
  16. He came out of Wagner college in Staten Island. They never had much of a baseball program-- very small time. He is not a big time pitcher.
  17. Bailey sucks balls. Two batters and the score is tied. This guy is our closer next year. Good luck to us.
  18. Bailey starts off like he will hand the game back to the Yanks.
  19. Iglesias did not remind me of Ozzie Smith on that play in the last inning.
  20. That's very true. There are several factors which combine to make it a much less intimidating place for visiting teams than the old place. The large open air concourses disperse the noise. In the prior stadium, the sound was focused at the playing field. There are so many restaurants, bars and other distractions on every level of the stadium that people do not stay in their seats for the whole game. Lastly, The tickets are so high priced that they have essentially priced out the rowdy element.
  21. Even with the rainy weather, the quiet crowd is very strange.
  22. I would keep Iglesias to give him a shot, but I agree that we should take out the rest of the garbage.
  23. There is little choice but to go out and get pitching by trade or FA, because there is little depth of pitching talent in the organization.
  24. They will market your team very well. They'll create lots of interest and trhen bleed the fans dry for what will ultimately be an inferior on field product.
  25. There's no building going on with that roster. It's just a surrender.
