  1. He's not sheerly and utterly dominating in your opinion?
  2. I didn't say that it was. You are such an ornery person that it is difficult to even agree with you.
  3. I'd prefer that the FO put money into the product on the field, but they might as well have had a few chimps running the place the last 3 years or so.
  4. Nit entitled. They are just whiny. It is a New England characteristic. When their teams were non-factors, they just whined incessantly about the weather.
  5. I know. SFF, I wasn't directing the whining comment at you, but at Red Sox fans in general. When we are getting our clocks cleaned too many people have a knee-jerk reaction of complaining about Yankee money. We at TalkSox should institute a prohibition against such whining along with the soon to be government imposed prohibition against disparaging the Prophet Muhammad.
  6. There is no sense whining about Yankee money when the Sox have plenty of money to compete with and beat the Yankees. Instead, we are trailing them by 25 freaking games and we have won the division 1 time. Money was not the reason for any of this. The Yankees are a flat out better organization from top to bottom in their baseball operations. The Red Sox have a superior marketing department. They nee desperately to improve their baseball operations.
  7. If you would be fine with him as your #1, what would the rest of the rotation look like?
  8. I really wouldn't mind him being the 4th or 5th OFer. He is good defensively and he can run and steal a base. He has a good arm too. However, I don't think they will keep him on the roster as a backup. They probably will not think it is best for his development. If he makes the roster, it will probably be as a starter. In that case, I agree with SCM. We'd be screwed, because it would mean that the FO did very little to upgrade the roster.
  9. You are not excluding the end, but you are excluding the first two months. Maybe that was a blip in his career. We will see. Like I said, he is solid. I don't know if I would call him a dominant pitcher. You put up the thread. Where do you stand? Would you be comfortable next season with Buchholz as the number 1 and Lester number 2. Who would round out that rotation ...Lackey Doubront and Morales? BTW: If you excluded Verlander's and King Felix's worst 2 months there ERA's would be minuscule.
  10. He didn't do that over the course of the season. He pitched to a low 4's ERA. Pedro would throw himself off a cliff out of shame and humiliation if he put up those numbers. 4.16 is solid but not "utterly dominant" Calling it "utterly dominant", my friend is utterly absurd.
  11. He started very poorly for a two month period. His last 8 starts have been very mediocre so it looks like his finish will be mediocre. He was excellent in the middle months, but the season should be looked at in the totality. You can't exclude the beginning or the end. He is what he did over the whole season. A guy with a 4.16 ERA is not "sheer(ly) and utterly dominant." That's just ridiculous.
  12. I didn't pick anything arbitrary. I looked at his last 8 starts. I didn't pick starts in the middle of the season or cherry pick 8 starts. I just looked at his most recent performance, and I was surprised that his ERA in those starts is almost exactly at his season ERA. I think he is a solid pitcher, but I am not sure that I would want go so far as calling him "sheerand uterly dominant". I think that is an overstatement.
  13. That's where I seem him starting the season unless he is part of some trade package.
  14. I wasn't directing my comment at you. I apologize if it came off that way. It's just something that has annoyed me for years when our brethren complain about the Yankees' money. We have plenty of money to succeed if they stop doing a suck-ass job.
  15. I don't think people have been seriously lamenting Brandon Moss getting traded in 2008.
  16. He hasn't been able to work on his game in two seasons. Basically, his development has been arrested. Physically, he still seems to be damaged. He's had shoulder and neck surgery. These are not minor procedures. Do the Sox keep him at AAA another season? If the Sox re-sign Ross, where would Kalish play? Would they hand him the open OF position? Being a 4th OFer would not help his development. I don't see them handing him a starting position.
  17. Buchholz is not looking that great lately. He's solid, but he's not looking like a #1. He may not be an ideal #2 either. In his last 8 starts he has pitched to his season ERA of 4.16. Maybe that is what he is -- a low 4 ERA starter. That's solid, but not a #1 or 2.
  18. I hate when my fellow Sox fans whine about Yankee money like the Sox are a small market team. They have plenty of resources. The problem is they have squandered hundreds of millions of dollars on suck ass players.
  19. Kalish has had 2 lost seasons. It's probably time to pull the plug on him.
  20. Gammons is in the Hall of Fame. He's not getting fired.
  21. Congrats to Big Papi CC! How many times have you won the TalkSox league?
  22. I think he's shot. He doesn't have upper 90's stuff anymore, and he has no clue where he is throwing the ball.
  23. ^ and that will be the staff of a 4th place team.
  24. Yes, they are faced with more work than they have had in the past. We will find out if they are up to it. The jury is out.
