  1. All we can hope for is for Baltimore to lose before our game end so the Yanks victory tonight will clinch nothing.
  2. The fact that Theo didn't have to rent an entire hotel and run a top secret operation to sign this guy should have been a big tip off that he was not good.
  3. The end of this and last season have made Joe Kerrigan's reign look like Miller Huggin's Yankees.
  4. ^I don't even know why I bother ti watch.
  5. There is only one way for this to turn out.
  6. It's time to return the Japanese Human Trash to its homeland.
  7. I think anyone else on the staff would have a better chance than Dice k TONIGHT--- Aceves, Padilla, Cook would all have a better chance. Maybe Bobby V just wants to humiliate Dice by having him lose to his fellow countryman.
  8. The game will be out of reach by the 3rd inning.
  9. Without the Angels to challenge them, the Yanks will probably advance easily through the offseason. The Tigers could mount some sort of threat, but the A's, Rangers, and O's should not be anything more than speed bumps.
  10. I saw his first start in Spring Training in 2007 when he was acquired. I saw him in the bullpen, and I was unimpressed that he was an undersized sort of pudgy guy. Even Bobby V didn't think a lot of him while he was in Japan, but we signed and paid him like he was going to be a star.
  11. I think fans should expect the ownership group to be focused on their team, and if they don't focus on the Sox and the team experiences failures like this season, they will be targeted for criticism.
  12. We should be able to live without the 40 innings he would contribute.
  13. He has very little MLB success on his resume. He had good 1/2 season with the Astros in 2011-- a team in a bad division that no one cared about. He doesn't throw hard and without pinpoint control, he is toast. There are not many successful relievers without live fastballs that rely on the curve.
  14. At best, Melancon should be extended the opportunity to compete for a bullpen spot, but not a late inning slot. He stinks. The need to bring in an established late inning guy to compete with Tazawa and Bailey.
  15. A team that loses 102 games is horrendously bad. They will get this off season to start building. He has plenty of freed up money. If he doesn't get them back to..500 next season, it will be further proof of how inept he is.
  16. The Yankees will jump out to a big insurmountable lead against Dice K. The Yankees on field post-game celebration will make our humiliation compete. The silver lining is that Dice K will never again sit up for the Sawx.
  17. Whether he closes or not next season, they need to bring in at least 1 big late inning bullpen arm capable of closing. There is not enough of late inning talent on this roster.
  18. Bailey is the closer that management wanted. He was on the mound with a 2 run lead and no one on base against the Yankees with the opportunity to throw a wrench into the Yankee's season. At that point, the lack of offense and the trades were all irrelevant. If he had done the job we had expected from him, the Yanks would be in a divisional tie. He didn't do his job. He has no excuse. He didn't even put up a good fight. The game was tied after he faced two batters.
  19. Agreed. He would have been very helpful in the pen this season. He might have already earned the closer's role if he had been with the team.
  20. Nava is a minor league talent. He deserves kudos for all the hard work refining his game to the point where he didn't embarrass himself in the majors like a minor league hack. It's unfortunate that he is so short on talent, because the guy has a great heart.
  21. ^ Ditto
  22. I can't see handing Tazawa the closers job next season. He has not spent an entire season on the MLB roster in any capacity. I'd make him the late inning/multi inning guy and if he wins the closers role along the way, great. Even the great Mo was not handed the closers job. He did the 8th inning multi inning thing until it was clear he could handle closing. If you hand Tazawa the closing job, and he can't get it done, late inning losses can quickly turn a season into a fiasco.
  23. I have been a diehard fan for 46 years and I have never seen anything this bad. It speaks volumes. The organization can't be criticized enough. I have seen this team rebuilt many times in those 46 years, and it has never been this bad. There is no excuse for this disgrace if you are not a small market team. They have rally damaged the franchise in the last 2 years. They have been so bad that many fans just dion't care about them anymore. It took a long time to build this loyal cash cow fanbase. It's been building for 46 years, and these last 2 seasons have been like droipping an A Bomb on everything they built. They did a very poor job of guarding their most valuable asset-- the onfield product.
  24. ^ Can this be interpreted as anything other than unprovoked criticism of another poster and ridicule intended to provoke a fight? You've been doing that a lot lately. If this is going to be how you want to correspond, I am pretty good at ridicule and I will initiate this kind of thing if this persists. I don't think you want to go down that road. As for Pedroia, I have said over and over that he is the sparkplug of the Sox. When he is hitting, we win and go on a roll. I'd be okay with them clearing the entire roster and keeping Pedroia. . If you actuallyread my posts without your "hate a 700" filter, you would know that. Instead you play the part of a jackass.
  25. One trick pony? I think that applies to the filter through which you read my posts. It really is your filter. My goodness this was the worst season in my extensive lifetime. I have been very restrained in light of the fact that I never waivered in the pre-season that this team didn't have enough pitching and that was what killed the team. Back to the one trick pony remark, the internet could never convey the complexity of my mind or character. The internet is just not conducive to conveying the depth of a person. That being said, there is enough content here from me that you would realize that if you didn't have such a narrow filter through which you read my posts.
