  1. Ibanez again. f***!!!
  2. I have yet another reason to hate Jim Johnson.
  3. Someone will take Robertson deep.
  4. The people who would be surprised would be the Giants fans. I work with a couple of life long Giants fans who told me they thought the Giants should have sold high on him last off season, because his velocity was down so much. That being said, a change of league might give him a renewed life for a limited period. After talking to those guys all season long, I would be very surprised if he were to win the CY award next season.
  5. I really hope that by Thanksgiving we are talking about players a lot more interesting than our minor league pitching. Good God, the notion of these guys on the MLB team makes me depressed. Speaking of minor leaguers, our FO really dropped the ball on this guy Gonzalez. We almost wrecked his career with our great player development department and now the guy is lights out.
  6. Our 4th OFers Nava and Sweeney couldn't hit that many HRs if they were batting from second base.
  7. How many times has Raul Ibanez done that recently. It's f***ing nauseating.
  8. Yep, you are right about that. It's just amazing to me that the FO thought he was a suitable full time SS.
  9. The Royals' teams tha Aviles was on was chock full of chumps, and he couldn't start at any position. I believe they sent him back to the minors at some point. If we are going to rebuild our team with KC bench warmers, we will suck for a long time.
  10. Aviles wasn' good enough to win a starting job for the Royals. He is a utility type player, and not a very good one. Scutaro is a far superior utility guy, who is more proficient at ore positions and much steadier at the plate, but apparently he is too expensive for our budget.
  11. Here are the posts that followed: http://www.talksox.com/forum/775928-post272.html http://www.talksox.com/forum/775931-post273.html http://www.talksox.com/forum/775935-post274.html
  12. I don't think we know enough about anxiety disorders to make that conclusion. Boston may not be a good fit for him, but it may not be because of a bout with anxiety that he had several years ago with no recurrence. It is still this season until the World Series is over. As for the sig bet, start at this post and work your way through the thread. http://www.talksox.com/forum/talk-sox-forum/16635-youk-white-sox-7.html#post775895 I think keeping a sig written by me until the end of 2012 would be reasonable.
  13. Making adjustments to meet expectations created by the Press in the case of Gonzo and Crawford can screw up a guy's game, but that has nothing to do with anxiety. An anxiety disorder is another whole ball of wax. Gonzo and Crawford were not playing nervous. I think there is a fundamental misunderstanding of anxiety disorders and a lot of people are making conclusions about Greinke's situation without any expertise or knowledge about the subject. I have said before that they should certainly explore whether he has a personality which will allow him to thrive in Boston. I don't think any of us, Jacko included, know about his bout with anxiety, which has been managed for several years and he has thrived in a profession where he is the focal point of attention each time he performs. BTW, When are we going to settle the sig bet?
  14. Gonzo hit just fine before the All Star Break in 2011. His HR outage was more likely a result of a bad shoulder than the Boston Press. His power stroke did not reappear in LA.
  15. If they want to continue to charge the highest ticket prices in Baseball, they can't put out a product that looks like the KC Royals.
  16. If the O's win game 3, they will have a really good shot at closing out the Yanks without facing CC again.
  17. He lost. Close enough.
  18. At this point, you will get next to nothing for Melancon. We'd be better off keeping him in the minors for an emergency situation.
  19. The press in Boston is the added intensity. Other than that, Greinke did pitch well in a large market and he has pitched well in penant races. He's been traded twice and that is a high stress situation. How much more pressure could Dan Shaughnessy add. The Boston press is more annoying than anything else. They are a non-factor to onfield performance.
  20. He's going to blow up tonight.
  21. ^What point are you trying to convey?
  22. Keeping Aviles as the starting SS would be a commitment to mediocrity.
  23. Salty is proven to suck.
  24. Oh, a debate over whether a guy ha MLB talent level is hate. That's really stupid.
