  1. If the owner had serious reservations about the signing, it's hard to blame the owner for opening up his wallet. There is plenty of blame to go around. Theo gets the lion's share for building this mess. JH is responsible for giving Theo autonomy after 2007. The FO lost a lot good baseball judgment when Bill Lajoie left. IMO, that void has yet to be filled.
  2. I am not inferring anything when I call you a jackass. Injecting racism into a sports forum is the act of a jack ass. You sir are a jackass. I am not inferring that. You apparently are much too stupid to understand what I meant by my remark and you are not worth the time to explain it. I can tell you this. It had nothing to do with "getting beat up on the mean streets of Brooklyn."
  3. Sure he shoulders most of the blame. The FO opened their wallet and directred him to get exciting "sexy" players and Theo implemented that philosophy very poorly. He spent maga bucks on the likes of Lackey, Crawford and a first baseman with a bum shoulder. If he had gone for Cliff Lee and Matt Holliday the story of the last few years would have been very different the last few years in Boston. He executed the philosophy very poorly. The owners are interested in revenue and their concerns were well founded-- TV ratings had been slipping. Theo brought in the wrong guys, squandered their huge budget and left them with an enormously expensive but totally suckass team with no payroll flexibility. So, yes, he built this pile of garbage. As for Francona, I love the guy, but he has a bit of an ax to grind.
  4. You are such a jackass.
  5. Hyperbole?... It happens on Internet sports forums. 26 games in the IF over 2 years -- he was basically an emergency option. He predominantly played the OF those years. You are picking some nits and going on with it like a dog with a bone. Millar may not have been the best example, but he wasn't the worst example either. In any regard, I think you got SBFs point. He thought Brentz could make the transition. Others have.
  6. UN has never been taken to Brooklyn.
  7. They have a powerhouse starting staff and bullpen. Their hitting is pretty good too. They will be a force again in 2013.
  8. What makes you think I dislike him? I think is a fair bit away from making the 2013 rotation. That is a long shot. This stuff about him and Pedro is meaningless. He's not going to be the next Pedro. He'd have to win the CY Young either this season or next for his career to parallel Pedro's. At this same age, Pedro was already carving out his legend.
  9. In the 2 years prior to obtaining him, Millar almost exclusively played the OF.
  10. And in that way, he fits TalkSox perfectly.
  11. Going forward would "FO Honk" be somewhat redundant?
  12. Cherries was just so used to taking out the garbage for Theo that taking Byrd was just part of an old habit.
  13. I was jk ing too. I don't even know what a honk is.
  14. Just a honk in general.
  15. I would be concerned.
  16. He is a moose. i don"t know how you can be certain that anyone is clean today.
  17. I wasn't comparing him to Jeter, just saying that MIFs are susceptible to getting dings.
  18. The Yanks look like they could have some trouble this year aging at key positions losing some depth that they have had in past seasons, but Cashman always seems to find a way. I really wish we had throw a lot of money at him a few years ago when his contract was up and shown Theo the door.
  19. I think middle infielders who play every day get a lot of dings. Jeter has been dinged up every year.
  20. In baseball, you don't need a great body. A good pair of wrists and forearms to hit, healthy legs and great instincts and you can be good for a long time. Reflexes mean more in baseball than other sports, and they typically last longer than other skills like speed or throwing arm strength.
  21. Unless more is done, or all the "ifs" get answered in the affirmative, they will be fighting for 4 th place.
  22. Pitchers and catchers report in less than a month. It starting to look like we are done with moves except for a first base move with Napoli. It's funny that Napoli was the first major deal the Red Sox announced this off season. I believe the Gomes deal was announced prior, but that was not a major deal. It's unbelievable that the first major move has still not been finalized and might not be finalized. If the Napoli deal doesn't get done that means that the FO addressed the needs of a 93 loss last place team (the worst Red Sox showing since 1965) by acquiring: Victorino Gomes Dempster Drew Uehara Hanrahan Ross
