  1. We have run into a very hot team this weekend.
  2. We need a backup SS for when Drew strains his va jay jay.
  3. I don't think Middlebrooks could be worse and every once in a while, he'll hit a bomb.
  4. Rubby's fastball went a long way last night. He has been very inconsistent at AAA. Overall, his numbers for the season are not very good. The numbers don't indicate much promise or any encouragement regarding his development. His command is not good at all. I hope that we can get some value for him as part of some package down the road before he loses all value.
  5. I think the last time Bard pitched was May.
  6. Back to back 4 hit nights for Ortiz. Monstah!!
  7. he's under performing for a #5.
  8. Maybe Theo will sign him for $100 million +. He gave Carl Crawford $142 million.
  9. I repeat Snyder and Holt stink.
  10. We are playing to win a Division and beyond in 2013. If Bogaerts belongs in the majors and can help us, years of control should not matter.
  11. This third base platoon is a black hole for this team. I think that they must be looking at upgrades.
  12. I have watched a lot of Victorino since his Phillie days. The guy can track down flyballs better than anyone. I am glad to see that the numbers agree with my eyes. I still got it.
  13. It has been a very exciting season thus far, and the team has performed well beyond any expert's expectations (except for SFF). The FO did the right thing and got a big reinforcement for the rotation. The team is poised to make a run, but the damn Rays will not go away, and their pitching scares me to death. After having played this well for this long, losing the division and getting a wild cards spot will be a big let down. We have won only 1 division in 17 years, and this is looking like our year with the Yankees collapsing. From here on out, games will be very tense. Every play and every managerial decision will be under the microscope, and that's the way it should be. Red Sox Nation is intense and we have something to root for. Last year, game threads were uneventful, because the team was terrible and no one cared. The only drama every night was whether the team would find a new way to lose. From here on out, Farrell's every move will be dissected. He's had pretty much a free pass until this point. Bobby V had set the bar so low that Pedro's mannequin would have been an improvement as the manager. We have been playing very well so far so Farrell has been on a Honeymoon with the fans and press. That's going to change. The fans are drooling over the post season. Last night, Farrell made a stupid decision in starting Wright. We don't have a 10 game lead. There is no luxury to experiment. To his credit, he got Wright out of there very quickly before things got out of hand. A lot of managers hold firm to the 7 run rule. The base running mistakes will be more irritating than they were before. Umpire's calls will make our heads explode and we will want to charge the mound if anyone hits Pedroia or Ortiz. The passion is back. It's no time for being mellow. If you want mellow, root for the Angels.
  14. I am not looking forward to seeing a knuck baller start for us.
  15. Hawk is classically bad--- in thje Phil Rizzuto mold.
  16. I was unfamiliar with him. It just goes to show how the fortunes of prospects can change from year to year. As fans, we want to keep our highly rated prospects, but their rankings can change so much from year to year depending on their development. The rankings mean very little. They are just snapshots of an organization and frequently organizations are completely wrong about the ceilings for their players.
  17. He's been very solid. He takes his turn every 5 th day and he usually keeps us in the game. Over 162 games that may be the best thing a starter can do for his team. Sure I would like to have a big stud like King Felix, but it is more important to have 4 guys like Doubs. You can't be successful if you have a couple of black holes in the rotation. That was my fear coming into the season. I feared that Lackey's spot would be one black hole and that we would have one other long term injury without any good depth options. Thankfully, we have only had the 1 inquiry, and thankfully Workman did an admirable job of filling in for 3 starts. Our other depth options were disappointing, so we have been very fortunate that we haven't had to employ more than one in any rotation cycle. Peavy will fill Buch's spot and our rotation is once again intact. Lester and Dempster will have some horrendous starts here and there, but as long as everyone takes their turn and eats innings, the pitching will be fine.
  18. You can't win them all. Lackey has been our best and most consistent starting pitcher this season. He has not been getting much run support lately. Doubront has been our second most consistent starter. The Astro pitcher on Monday. Is he their highest rated pitching prospect. They have a couple of promising young arms in their rotation.
  19. I thought that Redford was a minor league player in real life.
  20. If they didn't, shame on them. For a quarter of a billion dollars, you should do better due diligence.
  21. I am no ARod fan, but I am siding with him against MLB and the Yanks. Everyone in MLB knew what was going on with PEDs. They were complicit in the scandal, and they said nothing when the big HR years were putting fannies in the seats and increasing their profits. When the integrity of the games records took a hit a the game became a video game -type farce for hitters, they tried to close the barn door after the horse had left. The Yankees with full knowledge of ARod's shenanigans opted to re-up him to a ridiculous contract and now they are looking for any technicality to void the deal and save $100 million when he is a broken down relic. Screw them. They didn't have clean hands when they entered the deal, so they should have to make good on it.
  22. Yep. Trading the top offensive SS in baseball for Trout was far from "cheating". The trade that has helped my team the most was Ortiz for Cole Hamels. That has turned out to be completely one-sided. My SS position has been a bit of a black hole for my team since I traded Segura.
  23. He is the most anticipated prospect since Daniel Nava. I am looking forward to seeing this kid. I think it will be sooner than later. We have problems at 3B and we don't have a legit backup SS and Drew frequently misses games with various tweaks.
