  1. or maybe the guy Bloom wanted was Winckowski and the PTBNL is a bag of balls. Seems like a distress sale price for a top prospect, not selling high.
  2. You can’t teach a kid to see the ball. And you can’t judge that unless you see the kid play.
  3. And that must be why Bloom said no.
  4. You were telling me that he is a prospect. I said that I had heard that he has been a major disappointment. I wasn’t arguing that other point in regard to Lee.
  5. i don’t put much faith in the new fangled metrics. I know a college kid who is a legitimate pitching prospect, but He would never make the bigs as a hitter. However, many scouts rely on these new metrics on bat speed, the time the bat is in hitting zone etc. I may have misstated it, but the point is that the kid is very high on the charts of those new metrics. There is a little problem, however, ... he can’t track a pitch long enough to be a good hitter. He’s completely overpowered by plus heat and can’t recognize breaking pitches early enough not to bite at the ones in the dirt.
  6. Mets are decimated with injuries. They also have .103 hitting Cameron Maybin in the lineup.
  7. i was updating and addressing the discussion of whether Lee has been a disappointment as a prospect.
  8. Kluber with the no hitter.
  9. Khalil Lee has k’d in his first 7 MLB ABs. He has looked helpless.
  10. Trout is going to be difficult to replace for 8 weeks.

    LaRussa

I never liked LaRussa’s style of managing in late innings as he slowed the game to a crawl. But if the manager tells you what to do and you don’t do it, there is usually a conversation. I don’t agree with this unwritten rule. I don’t think players who could actually hit at the MLB level would agree with it. They make their money building stats, and you build stats against mediocre and bad pitchers. You don’t earn your contract against deGrom or Scherzer.
  12. i would have blamed Bloom.
  13. Why are they wearing camo caps tonight?
  14. Bottom of the order!
  15. I have seen situations where players who have had prior success regain their success after a change of scenery, but I can’t remember a change of scenery helping a player who had not had previous success. It seems to be working for Pivetta.
  16. Why is Devers DHing tonight?
  17. Renfroe hits the occasional bomb and he has a pretty good glove and a canon arm. Thus far, Cordero has just been a bomb.
  18. How far along is Santana?
  19. Where is the legendary power of Cordero? How long will they let this experiment go on?
  20. It surprised the TV announcers too, but it is that stupid 3 rd time through the order metric that managers implement automatically regardless of whether the pitcher is cruising.
  21. I am starting to realize why the Yankees were willing to add a sweetener to give away Octavio.
  22. ERod battled without his best stuff tonight and got the job done.
