  1. They used to do a rope-lined red carpet thing for the Hall of Famers as they arrived in limousines. My nephew and I hopped few fences and found our way to the front of the rope line. We saw all of the greats, including Stan the Man and Teddy Ballgame up close. The greatest two guys were Ernie Banks and Pee Wee Reese. They signed for everyone along the rope line. The event organizers didn't like it,because they wanted to keep things moving, but they did it anyway. I have to look for my photos of that.
  2. The guy is very knowledgeable-- a valuable member of the team FO and a huge fan too. What a great job he has!! I'd take the job just to get his seat. LOL!! I'd even wear the dopey looking headset.
  3. Yes, it really was a great day. I had watched him for so many years that I had to be there. While watching the ceremony, I decided that I had to go to see his induction in Cooperstown 5 years later. That was also a great day. He got inducted with Johnny Bench. The town was at overflow capacity. I went with my Dad and my oldest nephew who had never been to Cooperstown before. We had a blast-- saw so many of the greats of the game. Back then the inductions were done behind the Hall Library. The crowd overflowed into the streets. Now, they do the inductions off-site at a big field. It's not as close and intimate.
  4. Hey JBJ, If Victorino can get to it, the ball is his. And what ever you do, Bush, don't run into him.
  5. I don't think Kapstein wants to leave the booth. Thank goodness that they didn't have him sit in for Remy.
  6. Ortiz was really lumbering to second base, but what a rope he hit.
  7. JBJ isn't a big guy, but he has good power. 9 game hitting streak for Lavarnway. Maybe Fred was right about him.
  8. Bradley has a strong arm but that was a bad misfire. Normally, he could make a more accurate throw blind-folded.
  9. If we had to watch all Red Sox games in Spanish, we would become fluent faster than if we used Rosetta Stone. LOL!
  10. It looks like most people wnat to see KC/Cleveland. A few people want to see Cleveland/Yankees. I wonder if those were Jacko and another Yankee fan.
  11. I am getting it in English. Maybe you turned on SAP by accident.
  12. He threw a strike to Ortiz throwing out the first pitch. Not bad for a 74 year old. It looked like he really enjoyed it too.
  13. The song of the day pisses me off a bit. I am going to delete it from my post. And replace it with something more appropriate.
  14. It's a non-displaced fracture of a non-weight-bearing bone. He had been playing on it. Give him a lanacane shot like they gave Schilling the entire 2004 season. One way or another, I think he will be back playing this week. It's an opportunity to get back in sync for the playoffs which will be his showcase for free agency.
  15. The last regular season at Fenway as the team continues its drive for Home Field advantage. Game time: 1:35 p.m. TV/Radio: NESN/WEEI Stat of the Day: The Red Sox are 72-10 when they score five runs or more. Notes: The Red Sox are 10-8 vs. the Blue Jays this season entering today's final game against them ... Doubront has not pitched since Sept. 6. This is his third start against the Blue Jays this season ... Dustin Pedroia needs one home run to reach 100 for his career ... The Red Sox have Monday and Thursday off this week, the final week of the regular season. They play at Colorado Tuesday-Wednesday and wrap up the regular season starting Friday in Baltimore. Song of the Day: Edit: The Carl Yastrzemski Song by Jess Cain.
  16. It would be interesting to meet Tito in playoff series.
  17. He got caught once and made a mea culpa, which was obviously worthless. He is climbing up the record books and ruining the integrity of the games records and statistics. He has made hundreds of millions of dollars cheating the game and the fans. ARod is no victim. On the other hand Selig and the Yankees are hypocrites looking to make an example of him when he can no longer perform at an elite level. The Yankees just want to save money. When he was hitting 50 bombs a year, they looked the other way.
  18. Same thought here.
  19. It's a shame that one of the longest-standing records in the game (Gehrig's Grand Slam record) had to fall to a notorious cheater. Thank you Bud Selig for your contribution to destroying the integrity of a great games records.
  20. Who do we want to see in the Wild Card? Edit: There are 5 additional possibilities that wouldn't fit in the poll. Texas/KC Texas/Yankees Baltimore/KC Baltimore/Yankees KC/Yankees
  21. Washington gave away game 6 of thatWorld Series at least twice. He outsmarted himself and lost a championship. Grady Little got fired for far less. If Washington had done that in Boston he would have been fired before the clubhouse had been cleared.
  22. That's great. I've never been to a clinching game. Very cool.
  23. It will be interesting to see Farrrell's bullpen rotation in the last week. I don't think Taz is a lock to be the 8th inning guy in the playoffs. It will be interesting to see how Dempster gets used. He has experience as a closer. I winder is Farrell would consider using him in the 8th.
