    ”Cherry picked in hindsight”? No, not at all. I haven’t liked the Kike deal from day 1.

    I never root for or against a GM. I criticize all of them without exception. They are on the same “overpaid knucklehead list” as managers.

    I stand corrected, but the 18 yr old hasn’t played professionally since age 16 and the 19 year old hasn’t played professionally since age 17, so they have almost no professional development. 5 years minimum before we see these guys contributing regularly in the MLB... if ever.

    When 16 and 17 yr olds are involved it can take minimum 6 years to make that determination. By that time Beni could be retired and everyone else will have forgotten this deal.

    slow-footed? Non-athletic? I haven’t heard those terms to describe him. Edit: it is not about missing him. It is about whether Bloom got a fair return for him. If the team doesn’t like a guy, they still look to maximize his value.

    And around the time that Beni retires for good maybe the 16 yr old or 17 yr old we got in return will be in the major leagues... or maybe not.

    if they signed Holt for $1 million instead of Kike, they would have had more than enough money for those 2 guys plus more and still kept Benintendi. Beni and Renfroe would have been a vet productive platoon.

    It has been a great job overall, but that shouldn’t preclude evaluating individual moves. Some have been great and some have been duds.

    i do like those guys but reserve judgment on Arroyo. As as far as minor leaguers, did he bring in Duran? I like him. Franchy is vomit inducing. Not crazy about Downs. I like catcher Wong’s bat.

    That’s a stupid thing to say to a Red Sox fan. I think Bloom’s best move was bringing in Tek to game plan with the pitchers. That is what I am attributing to the outperformance of the pitching staff. I am also thinking that Bloom knows more about pitching than Ben. His acquisition of position players like Marwin, Kike and Santana shouldn't get rave reviews.

    Under your approach almost every players value decreases with decreasing years of control and/or age until retirement? Let’s just say that Beni was far from peak performance when he was traded and coming off the worst funk of his career. IMO, that got a bag of balls for him.
