  1. I am just surprised to have found a Red Sox fan that doesn't think the new joint in the Bronx is a joke in RF. Maybe you don't watch a lot of Yankee games, but pop ups leave that place on a regular basis. 2013 was an aberration because the Yankees were rolling garbage out on the field night after night. They were so bad that a relic like Soriano completely revived them as a power threat, and he bats right handed.
  2. Okay, I give up. Cano will not miss that 362 foot RCF porch, and RF in the new ballpark is not a joke and all of those first row pop up HRs that the Yankees hit is just my imagination. 2013 was a fluke year in that Cano was just bout the only threat in the lineup. He walked more times at home than in any year in his career. The guy is a great hitter, and he would hit anywhere, but 362 feet in all of RF makes a lefty a bigger power threat. If Ellsbury stays healthy in 2014, we will see what a mockery RF is at the Stadium.
  3. He's not a good glove guy for backing up at SS.
  4. Written by Tolstoy?
  5. 2012 the difference was 11. His HR rate per AB at home vs. on the Road is the difference between being a 20+ HR guy per year or not being 20+ HR guy per year. Also, let's not forget that he plays lots of games in other HR havens in the AL East-- e.g. Baltimore. His power production will be down playing for Seattle where his HR rate is 1 for every 38 ABs. His HR rate at the new Yankee Stadium is 1 HR per 19 ABs. That is significantly better than his career road record of 1 per 29 ABs.
  6. Prior to the new stadium he hit 1 less HR on the road than at home. In the new stadium, he has hit 15 more HRs at home.
  7. You are using old and new stadium numbers combined. The argument is that the new stadium is joke. Even using your comparison, he hits 1 home run every 23 ABs at home and 1 for every 29 ABs on the road.
  8. 10 or 11 feet is nothing to sneeze at in a power alley. 360 to RCF is a joke.
  9. That is a comparison of the original ballpark (1923) to the new ballpark (2009). I remember the original park. The 1976 version was considerably deeper in RCF than the new park. I don't need to view a chart for that. I just needed to go to the stadium to realize that.
  10. The RF porch in the new stadium extends further into RCF than the old stadium.
  11. Cano has eclipsed the 200 HR mark at age 30 which is very rare for a second baseman. Putting it into perspective, he didn't crack 20 Homers in a season until the Yankees opened the new Stadium which is a complete joke in RF. Since the new stadium opened, he has put up years of 25, 29, 28, 33 and 27 homers. That is not a coincidence IMO.
  12. The contract is way overboard for Ellsbury, and the Cano contract is equally as nuts.
  13. As for Kemp, I know that the guy is a great talent when healthy. I don't know about his attitude. Is he a prima dona or a head case. We learned after 2012 that bad chemistry can overcome talent.
  14. This is true. It prevents being saddled with bad long term deals. In Ortiz's case, the short term deals have resulted in him being paid quite a bit more than he would have gotten 3 or 4 year deal after the 2011 season. The trade off is the security.
  15. I think the Sox need to add an OFer. Grandy and Beltran are off the table. Choo is a lefty. Are there any right handed FA Ofers available.
  16. Span is also left handed.
  17. The bad aspect of Choo and Ethier is that they are left handed and struggle against left handed pitching. Beltran can play LF with Bradley and Victorino playing CF and RF.
  18. Drew to the Yankees next to play 2B?
  19. I'd send Webster and De La Rosa back to the Dodgers for Kemp.
  20. If the Dodgers eat a lot of the contract, they will want good talent. If they eat little or none, tjhey will not expect to get much talent. We are not going to get it both ways, I.e., the Dodgers eat a lot of the contract and accept little talent in return. That is a pipe dream.
  21. Of course what the Yankees do is highly important to the Red Sox. That's the way it is in business. You need to know what your main competitors are doing. Right now the Yankees are reacting to us. We have lost our starting CFer and catcher from our championship season and we are at risk of losing our SS and first baseman and only power threat besides Ortiz. The catching situation has been addressed, but the other issues have not been addressed.
  22. I don't see trading talent to get back Kemp with his huge paycheck and injuries. Beltran is the better choice -- cheaper, don't have to trade talent, and he is a shorter term commitment. Plus, he is a switch hitter.
  23. LOL!!! A700Hitter is offended.
  24. A700Hitter agrees with you about the pretentiousness.
