  1. Span is also left handed.
  2. The bad aspect of Choo and Ethier is that they are left handed and struggle against left handed pitching. Beltran can play LF with Bradley and Victorino playing CF and RF.
  3. Drew to the Yankees next to play 2B?
  4. I'd send Webster and De La Rosa back to the Dodgers for Kemp.
  5. If the Dodgers eat a lot of the contract, they will want good talent. If they eat little or none, tjhey will not expect to get much talent. We are not going to get it both ways, I.e., the Dodgers eat a lot of the contract and accept little talent in return. That is a pipe dream.
  6. Of course what the Yankees do is highly important to the Red Sox. That's the way it is in business. You need to know what your main competitors are doing. Right now the Yankees are reacting to us. We have lost our starting CFer and catcher from our championship season and we are at risk of losing our SS and first baseman and only power threat besides Ortiz. The catching situation has been addressed, but the other issues have not been addressed.
  7. I don't see trading talent to get back Kemp with his huge paycheck and injuries. Beltran is the better choice -- cheaper, don't have to trade talent, and he is a shorter term commitment. Plus, he is a switch hitter.
  8. LOL!!! A700Hitter is offended.
  9. A700Hitter agrees with you about the pretentiousness.
  10. Good post. Armchair GMs are annoying enough, but armchair GMs with a budget are much worse. It is fun to talk about getting good players in the Hot Stove season. That is the fun of the Hot Stove league-- not getting bargain basement second hand damaged goods. As Ellsbury is stealing 20+ bases against us in each of the next couple of seasons, I will find no solace in the expectation that he will have terrible seasons in 2018-2020.
  11. The Tigers just guaranteed themselves not to beat the Yankees in the playoffs for the next 2 seasons with their signing of Choker Joe Nathan.
  12. Not well unles they bring in the fences. It seems that you have to crush the ball to get it out of that place.
  13. I guess this means that the Yankees will pass on Grandy. I would not mind getting him. The Red Sox FO thinks very highly of Grandy and tried to get him before the Skanks swooped in and snatched him.
  14. He is helpless against Lefties.
  15. What about Beltran? He has a much lower price tag. He would not cost talent in return, and he puts up big numbers. LF at Fenway would add some years to his career.
  16. You cocky bastard. If we the Championship in 2014, Lester and Ortiz should probably wear Yankee hats during the post game celebration. LOL!
  17. Agreed. Salty will fade into oblivion with the Marlins.
  18. I think that package would get the attention of the Dodgers. I will miss Ellsbury's elite speed. Speed like that makes things happen on offense. Many runs were scored without a base hit during 2llsbury's tenure with the Sox. That kind of speed is the rarest of tolls for the Red Sox. I have never seen anyone with his speed and base stealing ability on the Red Sox in my 47 years of rooting for the Sox. That being said, I think Cano is the much better investment for a 7 year contract.
  19. Hopefully, Cano signes with the Dodgers.
  20. No one. They were still in the middle of their deal with Damon, who helped the Skanks win their last championship. Let's hope that we don't have to see Ellsbury win a Championship for the skanks.
  21. Many in Red Sox Nation unhappy about the Ellsbury deal.
  22. After we win a Championship, our players who are about to become FA's should just wear Yankee hats during the post game celebration.
  23. Two questions: How many bases does Ellsbury steal against the Red Sox in 2014? Does he get booed when he comes back to Fenway? I am really going to miss his speed.
  24. Without a strong supporting cast, Salty should do terribly oin Miami. All of his shortcomings will be magnified.
