  1. I am not obsessing about it, just noting that it is a sweet deal. 25-30 years from now people won't remember what role he played on the 2013 team.
  2. 1 inning for 1 ring. A good deal.
  3. I noticed looking at the team stat sheet that Daniel Bard actually pitched in 2 games for the Red Sox in 2013. I just don't remember that. I wonder if he will get a ring?
  4. LOL! That's true. Maybe the judgment of the Dice K signing shouldn't be so harsh in light of his contributions to the 2007 team. His contributions were not near the level of Beckett's that season, but Dice K was solid that season. His career trajectory in Boston would have been completely different if the Red Sox had prohibited him from playing in that. Stupid WBC. He was never the same pitcher afterward. I think that some of the negativity toward Dice K is due to his frustrating pitching style. Also, there is second guessing of the FO that year, because superior American pitchers were available as FAs that year.
  5. Both Damon and Texeira won a Championship with the Yanks. Did they overpay for them? Possibly for Tex. but Damon gave them their money's worth. Both were major contributors to their last World Championship. It's hard to give them wrong for getting those guys.
  6. Lester's second half and post-season excellence.
  7. Napoli's fielding was one of the season's pleasant surprises. His fielding was consistently excellent, but even after watching him for the entire season, I am still surprised at his UZR. His durability was a pleasant surprise especially in light of his hip condition.
  8. I love what John Lackey has done for the Red Sox this season. I would thank him for a great season and his major contribution to this championship. I think that he used the negativism that he experienced as incentive to prove the doubters wrong. That shows a lot of mental toughness. Many guys would just crumble under the criticism and whither away. See Carl Crawford. But he foes have a horse face. That's not a criticism or a cheap shot. It's just a fact. He is second only to Mark Texeira as a horse face. LOL!!
  9. And other teams will start copying the Boob-Ball philosophy.
  10. LOL!! When Farrell left him in the game, I looked st my friend and said "I hope this isn't Farrell's Grady Little moment." Thank goodness that it wasn't.
  11. I was just wondering what people thought about those decisions when they were made before the outcome was known. The people sitting around me at the game were questioning the move. A lot of people were starting to give Lackey an ovation assuming that Farrell was giving him the hook before Holliday pitched. The biggest questionable managerial decision by a manager in the Series was Matheny waiting until game 6 to have his pitchers work around Ortiz. I was amazed at how often he was challenged during the series, especially in the 3 games in St. Louis when Ortiz had very little protection behind him.
  12. It was a perfect season in so many ways. In game 6, the cards made very hard contact against Lackey in the first 2 innings, but almost all of those balls found our fielders. I was very worried when Farrell left Lackey in to face Holliday in the 7th inning with 2 men on base. Holliday was one of the few Cards hinters that scared me. A long ball would have made the score 6-4. Luckily, Holliday only walked and Taz got the next hitter. I was also worried when Taz was replaced in the 8th inning by Workman after facing just hitter. The first two hitters hit the ball very hard against Workman but they found our fielders. He finished out the inning and koji shut them down in the 9th. What did you guys think of Farrell's moves?
  13. He has to win Executive of the Year by a landslide.
  14. I still don't believe that this season unfolded the way it did and that I was there to see it boggles my mind. It's like a big dream to me. I feel like I hit the lottery getting to go to the game. It came completely out of the blue for me. Three World Championships in ten years. Prior to 2004, I would have told you that I would have been happy with 1. The fact that this championship was so unexpected made it as remarkable as the 2004 Championship.
  15. I think that I am the luckiest guy ever. I am still pinching myself. My Blackberry service sucked at Fenway and the battery went dead after my one and only gamethread post. I was visiting my brother in Florida during the ALCS. I was there for the ALCS clincher. The next day I got a text from a good friend asking me if I wanted to go to game 6 of the World Series. I thought he was joking. He has a business associate in Boston that offered him tickets to game 1 or 2, but my friend couldn't make those games. With that, the guy told him that he could have game 6 tickets if it went that far. We had Pavilion seats. It was an unbelievable night capping an unbelievable season. When we won game 4, I was so psyched because there would be a game 6. When we won game 5, I was going out of my mind thinking that I w=could see them win the championship. I wasn't counting my chickens about getting the tickets especially when the prices skyrocketed. I thougt a bigger customer might ask for the tickets or that something else would go wrong. It didn't set in for me until we picked up the tix at a bar in Dorchester at 4pm. The city was in lock down so I drove to my daughter's place in Somerville, parked there and took the T to the game. This was the first season since 1976 that I didn't get to Fenway for a regular season game due various work and personal reasons. Last night was my first and only game this season other than Spring training. Boy did I get lucky!! After we scored the 3 runs on the Victorino hit and Bogaerts lined out to end the inning, I told my friend that I thught Wacha was going to be toast the next inning. I told him that the litmus test would be if Drew got a hit against him, and then bomb-a-rooski!!! Lol!!! My son is almost as lucky as me. Yesterday was his birthday. In 2004 we were at the parade on his birthday. He has a great birthday!! Great season!! Great night!! Soak it all in!! Enjoy it. I am still pinching myself. BTW, every law enforcement officer in New England must have have been around Fenway and Back Bay. Thousands of cops in riot gear all over.
  16. At the game mojo!! Come on rally. Bogaerts should have bunted.
  17. We are on the same page on this^. LOL!
  18. I made a ton of money in 2009 betting on the Yankees. They were 3-1 odds for about 1 day to win the ALCS. I took the odds, but I couldn't bet them to win it all. My Samsung HDTV was purchased with those proceeds. It's very hard for me to bet against the Sox. From a superstitious standpoint, if I thought betting against them would help them win, I'd bet against them in a nano-second. That would just be silly--- unless it worked.
  19. He gets a day of rest. He probably needs it.
  20. 3 outs!!! 3 games to 2 coming back to Boston!!!
  21. One down!!! Let's go get 2 more.
  22. This is Koji time. Come on. Do it one more time!
