    he doesnt miss many batters and last year, especially towards the end of the season, he was getting hit all the time. Not just little bloops, hard hit line drives

    i mean if he can get better control of his pitches maybe he can be, but i dont know if has the mentality of a closer. I never said Cox should be the closer, just that they should give him a look in ST.

    what about trading Hinske for Torres/Capps Torres over the last 3 years: 94 IP (per year) 2.89 ERA 1.26 WHIP 2.02 GO/AO 1.98 K/BB .250 BAA dont know if he could be the closer, but he could help out

    otsuka's stats from last year: 2.11 ERA 1.07 WHIP 1.46 GO/AO 4.27 K/BB 32/36 SV i think thats pretty good for a closer

    thats the most important part to being a closer. The mental part of it. If you can't handle that pressure situation, there no way in hell you can be an effective closer. No matter how good your stuff is.

    ive seen many different projections for Dice-K 19-5 record 28 GS 215 IP 185 Hits 16 HR 63 BB 200 K 2.74 ERA 1.154 WHIP 8.37 K/9 3.18 K/BB i like that one the best :thumbsup:

    Delcarmen maybe, Timlin maybe, Bard/Cox/Masterson probably not, but its an interesting thought If Bard could get good control on his secondary pitches, he has the stuff to be a lights out closer. He has Gagne of 2003 type stuff I highly doubt Hansen would be closing, hell no to Tavarez Id like to see Byrce Cox in ST getting a legit shot. Brad Lidge stuff, and has showed great control in the college world series and in the minors I think he could have a Jenks type of rookie year if he gets a chance to just hope he doesnt end up like Hansen

    I think the guy we should go after is Otsuka. after that look at Lidge/Wheeler than if we cant get any deals done for those guys, Gonzalez/Turnbow if we cant get them either, than we might be screwed to be honest with you, I dont think we get any of those guys mentioned above

    i agree. I dont know why so many people hate this guy. He's one of the better bats to have on the bench. Plus, who else is available to take his spot?

    PIT already turned down Chad Tracy for Gonzalez. I dont know if Crisp, Hinske and a prospect would even get a deal done
