  1. Grab a dose of reality my young friend. Since Drew came on we have lose even worse than we did before he put his dead hand in the lineup, and we will keep losing until he is benched or traded. As for Bradley, he is not a winning ballplayer and he will never be a hitter. He has too many weaknesses and for some reason both these guys are favorites of Farrell and Cherington. They must be sat down.....then we will start winning. Tell you this RSFFL. If Drew is on the pine tomorrow we will win. If Bradley is also on the pine we will win by two or three runs. If they are both in the lineup we will lose again. With Bradley playing we can win as long as Drew is on the bench.
  2. Yes win, Ortiz has not hit like he's capable of, but he has hit a couple of big homers that helped us win a couple of games. Since Drew came aboard and forced Bogaerts to third base, a move that had so many on this board clapping with approval, Bogaerts has stopped hitting, has gone from over 300 into the 260's, has not fielded all that well and for all I know his confidence has been shaken by that move. It never should have happened. Now let's look at Farrell's man crush, the miserable Stephen Drew. What the hell does he bring to the lineup? Nothing!!!!! He is hitting well below the Mendoza line and his fielding will never cover for his inept lack of hitting. Bradley is hitting 207 after two and a half months of play, combined with his miserable performance in ST and his equally lousy work in his short stays with us last year, is under 200. Drew must be sat down, traded or released and we will never start winning until he is benched or gone. Keep this in mind for tomorrow. If Drew is benched we will win that game. If he is in the lineup we will lose. Hell, I almost think he is a jinx to boot, and, yes, I despise him. He turned down a good QO of $14 million and didn't get a an offer from anyone and like a bunch of rubes, suckers and idiots we signed him and lost a draft choice in the bargain. He needs to go!!!!!
  3. Farrell has this mantra that he got from Francona, namely keep giving s*** face pitchers chances because he "DOESN'T WANT TO LOSE THEM" even though he is losing game after game by putting in trash like Mujica and Miller. Whether he is sucking Farrell as you put it, it could also be that our bumbling skipper is sleeping with Mujica or Miller's mother. Aside from abject stupidity there is no reason for either one of these dickweeds to be pitching in clutch situations.
  4. RSFFL----you get Drew and Bradley out of that lineup, move Bogaerts back to short and put Middlebrooks back on third as soon as he is brought up and you won't have to worry about who starts the GT. Ever since Drew came back and was inserted into the lineup we have lost even worse than we did before he came on. That signing was a disgrace and was the biggest blunder of a lot of blunders the front office has made this year and it won't be righted until those two are gone. Also keep in mind that since Xander was moved to third he has stopped hitting and his fielding has gone backwards as well. Think maybe his confidence was shaken by the move? He said he was a SS, wanted to play there and felt he could do the job. Meanwhile Drew went hitless for the third or fourth game in a row, is hitting well below the Mendoza line and we keep losing. He needs to be sat down and made a utility player.
  5. And don't worry about it Wasatch......no one could have started this game thread tonight and been lucky, just as I think today's game thread starter will be if Drew and Bradley are in the lineup.
  6. And Drew and Bradley and Ross have to go too. They are an albatross to our lineup and we will never win consistently until they are gone. As for Doubrant, what did anyone expect? The guy is s*** on a roll and along with Peavy it is time to back up the truck and start hauling away our excess garbage.
  7. Clueless???? I think we won those games when I started that thread, or are you talking through your pants again? And I think I said if Drew and Bradley were in the lineup last night we would lose, didn't I? I think you believe clueless is when someone is right. Time to get your head out VA and smell the freakin' coffee. Tell you another clueless blurb. If Drew and Bradley are in the lineup this afternoon you can mail in another loss because the ship will not righted until those two are out of here.
  8. Oh Station, we don't need those guys. We have Bradley and Drew to carry the load for us........like an anchor. Then of course, who needs Owens when we have Peavy and Doubrant? SICKENING!!!!!!!
  9. In my opinion it won't. Bradley has a slow bat, cannot get around on a good fastball and is a sucker for breaking balls in the dirt. The latter is possibly fixable, the former is most certainly not.
  10. We can't do anything about tonight since the lineup is in and Farrell is determined once again to play his inept pets Bradley and Drew. Now right after the game, I would move Bogaerts back to short where he belongs, make Drew a utility man and if he balks try to trade him or release him and just eat that f***ing money we never should have given him in the first place. Put Cecchini on third until they call up Middlebrooks, and then start having Will take some balls in the outfield so to get some power there. He's a good athlete and if Holt can play the outfield so can Will. If WMB is at third send Garin down where he can play every day but still work on Will until he can play in the outfield. Put Holt in CF and get Bradley the f*** out of there, send him to the minors or trade him. Just get him the hell out of Boston----and that goes for Ross too. He can't hit water if he fell out of a boat. Bring up Vasquez and add a little better defense and a lot more offense than we were getting from Ross---which was next to nothing. With Bogey and Will on the left side of the infield, Holt in CF, Nava and Gomes platooning in left with Nava in RF when Gomes is playing left----we will not have as good a defense but we will have a better offense and that is what is sinking us right now. We need the best nine hitters in that damn lineup and Bradley, Drew and Ross are not in that nine. That is what I would do.
  11. d-money, when I saw that Drew was going to be in the lineup last night against a left hander to which he hit only 196 against them last season, I knew our goose was halfway cooked. Put Ross and Bradley in that mix and you have s*** on a roll, and I'll tell you something else. If those guys are in the lineup again tonight against another left hander you can mail in another loss. This is heresy to some but personally I think Farrell has managed this season with his head up his ass, and the fact that he seems to have his favorites and those people aren't doing crapola, only makes things worse.
  12. I did it for three games station---time to let someone like mvp or VA or maybe you take a crack at it. Just got back from a day at the beach, and this old guy can still belly board. My granddaughter kept asking me to show her how. Hell, the wind was blowing like a hurricane but the water was actually very warm. Had a blast. Now will take a nap. I really hope that Jake Peavy can finally throw a gem of a ballgame. This is a crucial trip and Jake needs to start contributing.....and it would be swell if a few of the guys pound out some hits tonight.
  13. Well we got the hat trick in this series and let's be honest about it----we needed a sweep. I don't know what it will do for our momentum or morale heading out to my semi neck of the woods but it shouldn't hurt. Great pitching by Lackey but our offense once again did a disappearing act until the tenth but what we all said we needed, a couple of bombs, well we got back to back from our two main power sources. A terrific win and this time the team saved Koji instead of the other way around. We owe him about a zillion more. Now if we can only start hitting as a team...........
  14. A rare weekday game for the Red Sox as they prepare for a West Coast getaway that will take them to Oakland and Seattle, but first some unfinished business like a series sweep for a welcome change. It can be done because the team has done it twice, and can anybody disagree that we could use one right about now? The Twins will send Kyle Gibson, 6-5 with a decent 3.55 ERA, to the hill. Last time out Gibson shut out the slumping Tigers for seven innings and has pitched well lately, his ERA for the last few games in the low twos. We send John Lackey with an 8-4 record, a 3.24 ERA and approximately a 1.20 WHIP. He has been one of our two most dependable starters. What we need is to get away from the one and two run dance and try to give Lackey a half-dozen tallies to work on----and that means more productive hits and maybe a dong or two. What the hell has happened to our power? We could use Papi, Bogey, Nap and even Pedroia---or, hell, anybody, to put one or two balls in the seats. Anyway we can win this game; we just have to go out and do it.:o:o:o:
  15. Well enough of past history---let's move on to June 18 and see what's in store for us today. I'll tell you what it has to be for us.....a hat trick.
  16. I think the enormous amount of runners left on base also tell us that we need more productive hits. That cannot be ignored.
  17. Thirty years of coaching baseball.....you're God damn right I can prove its existence because I saw it year in and year out. Some players perform well under pressure and some do not. That is not a supposition, that is a fact and if you did more than spend time on the spread sheets and sabermetrics nonsense you would know that for a fact too. Get your ass down to a high school and college coach and ask them. In fact talk to a number of coaches and find out for yourself because by your replies to me I am now more than convinced that you didn't that much baseball, certainly into your high school years and you sure as hell never coached a team, otherwise you wouldn't keep up with that ******** you're trying to hand me.
  18. Think of where you'd be without this guy. He has been amazing for you.
  19. Well there was a good sign tonight.....our first five, Holt, Bogaerts, Pedroia, Ortiz and Napoli went a collective 7 for 18. That's not bad. We could have used a few more productive hits but it was good enough this time out. We need a few more balls to go into the seats, however. The other good news was the pitching was solid, both starter and reliever even though Jon hurled 30 pellets that first inning and most importantly we won the game. We need to get that hat trick tomorrow. Winning series is fine but right now we need some sweeps.
  20. OK, this is for you Thunder. I volunteered again for this assignment. What can I say to my friends out there? We send Jon Lester to the hill tonight to face Phil Hughes, who is 7-2 with a 3.17 ERA this season, and much lower the past month. Jon has pitched very well for us this season save a couple of games and we need to give him as much support as we can. We handled Hughes very well last season when he pitched for the Yankees and we have a few hitters who have had success against him, but since our offense has been in a funk we need a top notch effort from Lester tonight to take the series and set up a hat trick tomorrow---and that's what I think our team needs. A new wrinkle tonight.......Brock Holt is playing CF and you know what? I think he can do just fine out there. Since Ross is Lester's personal catcher we need to have as many hitters in the lineup as possible so Jackie Bradley gets a night off. The only bummer is that Jonny Gomes is in left and we're facing a righty. Daniel Nava seems to be warming up and our bullpen seems well rested, but it would be swell if tonight we push a bunch of tallies across the plate. Holt---Bogaerts---Pedroia---Ortiz---Napoli---Nava----Gomes----Drew-----Ross. If they do their jobs I see a win tonight.;);)
  21. Thunder, I volunteered my services last night and personally think it should be shared by all of our friends here. Hey, here's a thought. Why don't you give it a try?
  22. Just as it isn't Matt Kemp of the Dodgers. The guy is whiner and complainer, is a shell of his former self and has been bitching and complaining whenever he is not in the lineup. Besides, he is a loafer and that is how he tore his ankle last season. Rios or Willingham would be better for us.
  23. Cecchini should not be brought up unless he is going to play. He's one of our top prospects and it is utterly stupid for him being promoted only to sit on the bench. He needs to be in that lineup......somewhere.
  24. Spud, you were right about not considering Victorino because he can't stay on the field this year. I did in because right now we are in desperation city and need some offense. As for why Jackie isn't hitting, you've heard about the Pitcher's Union haven't you? Word on hitter's weaknesses get around very quickly and it seems they have now a solid book on Jackie and that is why he's not getting too many pitches to hit ropes to the opposite field except on mistakes. As for the coaches, I think they are doing all they can to help him but it appears he has some real weaknesses that he hasn't been able to work out. With Jackie and Ross and others at the bottom of the order not contributing, in my opinion it creates a ripple effect throughout the lineup and puts added pressure on guys like Napoli, Ortiz and Pedroia to carry most of the load. It can wear an offense down.
  25. When Victorino gets back you put him out there and risk a little defense for a whole lot more of offense---which I think we need a little more of right now. Bradley cannot catch up to a good fastball......that has to be obvious to anyone who knows the game and has a good pair of eyes, and he cannot judge the low curve as being a strike or a ball and he swings at it. What's worse, he cannot hit that pitch either. IMHO, Bradley will never hit for the Red Sox and it is f utile to keep running him out there. As soon as Vic comes back Jackie has to be sent down.
