  1. Look my friend, I can only speak for myself, but yes, I am spoiled. I expect our team to compete every year and this and 2012 are very hard to take. I would imagine after watching the Sox get creamed three time straight in the Opening Home Series in April, fans who attended those games this past series would feel like they were being cheated. This is really a head scratcher. I thought Ben was inept in 2012 with some of the things he did and didn't do, but who could do anything but praise him to the heights for what he accomplished last season. Every signing, maybe save on, was on the mark and Farrell got the team playing hard and managed smartly and effectively. This year? Oh, I can guess and give my opinion but there are so many possibilities of what has gone South that you could stay up all night trying to figure out all the reasons for our disappointing season so far.
  2. I've said Bogaerts slump may be more than that because 2 for 47 and 5 for 76 sound like a collapse to me. I'm told Middlebrooks will be ready (haven't we heard that one before) very soon. What do we do then? I'd really like to see Bogey put back at short, WMB take third, Holt in left and Betts in center. I think we might start winning some games and getting more offense with that ensemble, especially if the top guns come through. Sixteen hits and nine runs last night would have won us about 85% of our games this year but this time it was the pitching. Nine games before the ASB sk---and to me if we are to make any move after that pratfall against the Cubs we need to go 6-3-----and 7-2 would be better.
  3. Keep waiving the Drew pom poms Jaco and don't forget to check with the front office before you post again. I want to keep up with the party line just for laughs.
  4. I see sk.....just the way he is doing it with Drew, right? Farrell is conducting a Chinese Fire Drill practically every night, throwing darts at a wall to try and figure out who plays where that evening. It has become a sick joke and our team is going down in flames. Of course, almost without exception he finds a way to get his boy Drew in there every night. Can do without his 135 average and his over thirty-percent strikeout rate.
  5. As I observed as early as April Ted, Bogaerts is a choker with runners on base but he could overcome it with experience and confidence. What he will most likely not overcome is the shattering of his confidence with what Farrell did to him by moving him to third and putting the worst hitter in the AL at shortstop, a 135 dud who strikes out about 1/3 of the time and the only reason Drew is in there is because Farrell has this love for him. Talk about managerial malfeasance.
  6. Hell Mr Tibbs, I'm out here in sunny Southern California and I'm ready to hit something.....Hell, where's my dogs, my wife....kidding!!!!! This is pathetic though. We are really s*** warmed over.
  7. In April after the first ten or so games I came out and said that Bogaerts was a possible choker----and you should have heard some of the people around here go off. Well it has been proven that he does choke with men on base.....hitting something like 110 with RISP. That is choking pure and simple. However, with experience that is possible to overcome for gutty and talented players. What is not possible to overcome is when you are mentally done and have your confidence crushed. I still insist that moving Bogaerts to third has been much of his undoing, especially when you have a 135 hitter taking his place, a player no other team made any move f or in the off season. Besides, how many of you saw Bogaerts swing tonight? He is kind of round housing his swing and is constantly outside the ball. He somehow needs to get his swing INSIDE the ball. Hell he is not 2 for his last 47 and 5 for his last 70 something. I do think if they put him back at short he might get his antenna and confidence going. That, again, is also only opinion, but if any of you have a better idea I'm all ears.
  8. Jason we stunk in 2012, won it all last year and stink this year. Not all that good but not all that bad either with that title in between. If we come back next year and win a division or, better yet the league title, then I will gladly take one s***** year, one great year, another s***** year and then another good year. However, there is no guarantee of that the way we're playing now.
  9. Why? Because he tells the truth? Everything Big Papi said was on the mark. The only problem I see is that you and a couple of other people simply cannot stand an uncomfortable truth. We do stink and we should not have two seasons out of three as we had and are having.
  10. Watch it Big Papi---a couple of the thought police will accuse you of disloyalty and will dispute every word you said. You know what though. YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!!!!!!
  11. Workman became Jerkman tonight and guarantees that Peavy will still be in the starting rotation. Getting swept by the Cubs and at home...A TOTAL CIVIC DISGRACE!!!!!!!
  12. Well I hope you weren't talking about Jerkman. He looked like s*** warmed over tonight....and Doubrant must never start again for our team. He is super s*** in a casserole. We hit better tonight and Betts hit a two run homer which to me means he should be the center fielder and Bradley should stay on the bench, but he's Cherington's boy so he'll be in there Friday afternoon to pollute the lineup again. As f or Drew, we got 12 hits tonight going in the ninth inning and Herrera got one of them. He should play Friday too and Drew should sit but he's Farrell's love child so he'll help Bradley further pollute our lineup. As for Jerkman his miserable performance tonight guarantees that Peavy will be in the starting rotation next go round.
  13. Well Drew and Bradley aren't in the lineup tonight so we have a decent chance to win Station.
  14. Two things have to happen and I am pretty confident that thing could turn in our favor-----but the disgusting cockroach in the ointment in Farrell. He just will not do what is needed. One get Bogaerts back to short (oops goofed there at first) and I predict within few games his confidence will be restored and we will have that RH bat we need. Second get Bradley out of CF---like yesterday, and put Betts out there and ride with him. I've said if for days now......X's move to third base has been a failure and his confidence has been shattered and for what? For Drew? Yes, I never like the guy since he turned down the QO which he wasn't worth anyway, but to bring him back anyway and without a ST and coming off a post season where he was totally useless with the bat......that was insane. Especially since it might have long term negative effects on Bogaerts. You don't discard your best prospect and move him to another position and risk his confidence for a guy who no other team wanted. I know there are those who violently disagree with me on this but I hold my ground because I don't think I've ever been more right. Drew has to go, Bogey back at SS, Betts in CF---and stretch the lineup with Holt and Betts one=two for speed. Now that Pedroia seems to hitting well again, you have him third with Papi fourth and Napoli fifth. And will someone chew Ortiz' ass out for loafing on the bases? That didn't help anymore than Drew being picked off first base, though that didn't surprise me at all since I think he is totally s*****.
  15. Sorry 700, another bat will do us little good as long as we have total stiffs in the lineup like Drew and Bradley. For the umpteenth time those two have got to go.
  16. You start by releasing Drew, sending Bradley down to Pawtucket to learn to hit which he cannot do consistently, move Bogaerts back to shortstop and bring up Vasquez. You're right, this team is toast. I thought have the Yankee series we might actually be ready to make a move, but you have to have chicken to make chicken salad, you can't do it with chicken s***.
  17. And please NB, don't ever predict an easy series for the Red Sox again. The Red Sox and an easy series is an oxymoron this year.
  18. Because we know Farrell wanted him, and wanted him from the beginning, and because he continues to play him even though he sucks through and through. Another Ofer tonight, hitting barely 125 and not the swiftest glove in the field either anymore. And though the vote is mixed on this I am thoroughly now convinced that Farrell's love for Drew has shattered the hell out of Bogaerts' confidence and spirit, and for those who say that he's a big boy and ought to handle it, my answer is baseball is a mental game and the mind can work to undermine a player's ability to perform properly. Any body who has played the game extensively, or coached the sport or scouted players knows that. Unless steps are taken to move Bogaerts back to shortstop and get Drew out of there we most likely could lose Bogaerts and his great potential talent. My opinion yes but you're seeing it for yourself--like tonight another 0 for 4, one RBI since May 21 and something like 5 for the last 70 or so at bats. You think this is a coincidence?
  19. Jacko, at least your manager at least tries to maneuver his personnel around and attempts to get the best men in the lineup for each game. Farrell is just the opposite. He has his nose so far up Drew's ass that he will not understand that this guy is one worthless pile of s*** who should not only be benched but released and put on a plane out of town.....and that goes for the brilliant Jackie junior who couldn't carry Ellsbury's soiled jock strap. When you have a manager who has a favorite who a total incompetent and a GM out to prove that the replacement for Ellsbury is more than adequate, you have two buffoons whose egos will eventually destroy the team's chances and that's what's happening to my team. A lot of people on this board have come to see this even though there are still a few holdouts who in their nebulous thinking believe these two guys are still doing a helluva job even though they might have totally ruined and shattered Xander Bogaerts confidence with what may turn out to the worst move the team has made the last five or six years. And you think you're pissed off.
  20. No BSN---you can think that and you're entitled to. I think such a scenario is ******** because you know what?????? In the early years of that contract the Yankees might win a couple of WS while we're sucking wind, that's why. Look at CC. Yes, he is hurting now but he had given them three solid seasons and a WS Title in 2009. I don't want that to happen again and it could if Lester goes there. Besides, Jon has always pitched well against them and has already beaten them twice this year, both in their own ballpark. No, we keep Lester.....and BTW, this was only my prediction but don't be surprised if by Farrell's action in the stupid moving of Bogey to third so he could put his love child at short that he hasn't crushed the young man's confidence. I urge you and other to keep a close eye on X from here on in this season.
  21. Well what did we learn tonight my friends? One, our hitting is still in the toilet and now have to wonder again if last night's barrage was just a tease and a mirage. As most of us know if Pedroia, Ortiz and Napoli don't hit, it permeates through the whole lineup. And pretty pretty pretty please----let's not have anyone say it's going to he an easy series or this particular game an easy win.......Nothing is easy for the Red Sox this year because they have consistently been unable to build off a dramatic victory or series win. Tomorrow starts July and perhaps the next three months will be better than the first three. Good God, I hope so. And let's start by coming back and winning the next two games and this series. Come on guys, get your f***ing s*** together because it is past about time.
  22. For God's sakes NB, please don't say that. The last poster who claimed a series was going to be cinch saw us get our asses handed to us. For the Red Sox this season there is no easy series and I would caution you not to underestimate the Cubs. Please don't do that.
  23. Ted, Wakefield and Varitek were both kept around three seasons too long. Jason was useless by mid-June and had become more of a complainer than a team captain, always moaning for playing time he did not deserve or earn---a far cry from the leader and clutch player he was before 2008. As for Wakefield he had become somewhat selfish as well and getting that win record was of more importance to him it seemed that the health of the ball club. And don't think those two retired voluntarily. They both came to ST in 2012 and were hoping for a contract and Valentine, in one of the smarter things he did, said no thanks, there was no place for them. Unable to sign with anyone else before that Spring they decided to retire. Some guys just don't know when it is time to hang them up, and I really think that had Tito still been manager they might have both been still playing in 2012---but that is just my opinion.
  24. We Red Sox fans should all be totally united in this. The front office offered Lester a humiliating and embarrassing offer last April that wasn't worth the paper it was printed on. No one should side with the front office on this.....they have been crying poverty ever since they traded away those divas in 2012 but they proved otherwise with their spending before last season. They h ave the money; Henry is a billionaire and, besides teams have been signing their ace pitchers to extensions the past few years because they know how valuable quality pitching is. Personally, I think Cherington and board of suits upstairs figured since Jon was very vocal about staying in Boston they thought they could get him with that insulting offer. I suppose if we lose him, which most likely will happen, the front office will come out w ith one of their patented smear campaigns designed to make themselves look good at the expense of our best pitcher. Please my friends, if it comes to this don't buy it for a second.
