OK GOM, now you're being helpful. That's was my point, though. This waiting is for the birds. At least you're waiting over a win; the rest of us have to think about what happened yesterday and it wasn't pleasant. Look, I even climbed all over you and challenged you to bet me. I would bet my attitude wouldn't have been so combative if we had won the game yesterday. One consolation, though. I can always put on one of my Red Sox DVD's about the 2004 season to kind of settle me down. It is escapism, no doubt about that, but I have a friend who is a big Chicago Cubs fan and he keeps harping on the fact that though our teams share a very similar history at least mine was finally able to go all the way while his is still wallowing in the weeds. In fact, they had gone even ten years longer than the Red Sox had when we finally won it all in 2004. BTW, discount my last nasty post to you unless you have already resonded. I will make a FRIENDLY wager that we finish higher than third.

Adam, not all of us feel the way we do about Schilling, but I think on that score we are on the right side. Curt put his career and ass on the line for his team and came out of it like the champion he was. It cost him his 2005 season and could have cost him his career. What all Schilling fans can now do is keep the mojo working for him to come back next time out in Texas and get his solid season off to a good start.

From a purely selfish standpoint I think this off day today is pure garbage. All it does is give us an extra 24 hours to stew, worry, stay upset, get pissed off at someone, and wonder what the hell that first game meant. It would have been great to have gotten right back in the wars today and see if Josh Beckett could continue his mastery over the Royals and maybe see some of our hitters belt a few around the park. As it is we all have to cool our heels and wait. Does it seem to any of you that the time is just dragging?

Bosox, I loved your post and it should have given all of us a much needed shot in the arm after yesterday's disappearing act. However, you have to be a little concerned about the bottom half of our lineup just a tad. Tek looks lost at the plate, Lowell hasn't hit a lick since he first stepped on the field in Florida and Crisp looked absolutely lost most of ST and yesterday. In addition, I am very concerned about Wakefield's piss poor pitching last month when facing minor leaguers. I just get the feeling that while the Yankees will dump anyone not doing the job without a moment's thought or hesitation, Theo and Tito will hold onto their vets until hell freezes over. I'm sure you know the guys I'm talking about---one being the next supposed great slugger for us who looks like a fandango dancer with a bat in his hand.

Adam, Jackson is a Yankee fan and is also my friend. Watch that nasty stuff, ok?

Riverside, is GOM starting to get on your nerves as he is mine? I wish he would just cut the crap and take up another cause because he is beginning to act more and more like a troll, and, frankly, he is pissing me off no end.

Since I have been a big Schilling fan since he first donned the Red Sox uniform and have proclaimed from on high that he has all the get out of jail cards he will ever need from me, I am certainly not going to get on his case over his bad outing. Our offense did nothing to redeem him and give us a chance to pull a Yankee come from behind win. In fact, our offense was stopped cold. As tough as it is for me to say it since I really feel s***** right about now, all we can do is move on and keep positive thoughts that Josh will be on his game tomorrow and will restore order and maybe Varitek, Crisp and Lowell will chip in with a hit or two apiece.

E.D., sounds like you have as much confidence in Tito as most of us here do. What you said should never ever ever happen and Theo, Larry, John and the rest of the heirarchy must make that very clear to FrancoMa. Of course, if would be so swell if I could see Paps in there tomorrow in the ninth inning protecting a one or two run lead for us.

Make it a good one Schill. Yes, it was only one game but did we have to look so awful yesterday and did Curt have to pick this time to have his off day? Couldn't he have had it down in Fort Myers? That being said, I think I should point out that when I was in Florida last week the team did seem a little lethargic to me and made me wonder if we have the right chemistry for a club wanting to get back into the World Series after a two year absence. And, yes, I am worrying about Varitek, Lowell and Crisp. Even though Coco Pops started to hit the last few games of ST he looked like the stumblebum he was last year in yesterday's game and the other two looked like they were trying to swing through a torrent of water. I only wish there was no off day so we could get back on the field and start making amends. The hours seem to have been dragging by since the end of the game yesterday. Get that mojo working Schill. We need it.

Well said RSR!!!! We love the Sox and we all feel it deep down when they lose as they did today, especially the way this game went done. Being pissed off is the one luxury we have right now and we'd be saps if we didn't take advantage of it.

Errrr Sorry CD, you and the rest of us have to wait an extra day for possible redemption.

For a moment I had actually wanted to give Francona a mental high five when he stormed out of the dugout and took the ball from that piece of s*** Piniero. He looked animated and pissed off at the same time. I guess he saw what the rest of us have seen all spring---that this guy is garbage warmed over. Hang 'em and bang em Piniero. However, he resorted to his usuall dumbass self an inning later when he gave Wily Mo a chance to strike out again. Mission accomplished. Was there any better way to make all of us sicker than we were?

Adam, please, I am not in the mood to listen to the s*** you're dispensing. Knock it off and do so right now. There are too many of us who are a little out of sorts right now and we don't want to hear this kind of crap from you or anyone else.

From what I saw of Varitek today it is evident that he is in steep decline. Of course, I am basing this on what I saw last week in Fort Myers, and most of last year, and the tag end of 2005. Lowell looks like he is in for a bad time unless he snaps out of it, and you know how little I think of Crisp. Those three could be a big black hole in our lineup. That is why it is so important for Ortiz, Ramirez and Drew to hit big for us, and for the Lugo and Youk to get the singles and doubles to set up rallies. Unless the other three start doing something quickly we could find ourselves depending on five people to carry the load. I do think, though, that Pedroia is the real thing. Only one game, yes, but I have been one of his biggest boosters throughout. Remember, it is Pena and Crisp who are on my s*** list.

Watching that game today was like someone shoving a steel rod up my ass. It was painful to watch and disgusting as well. I can accept Manny going 0 for 4 because unless he suddenly loses it overnight I know he will be back with a vengence, but watching Lowell, Varitek and Crisp flail away tell me their troubles in ST might just carry over into the regular season. Crisp looked absolutely pathetic, Tek worse, and Lowell's first three trips to the plate was almost a passion play. Even Lugo k'd three times today. Not much to cheer about was there? Pedroia got two hits and maybe that will shut down his critics on this board for at least a day or two, but did you see Piniero? Three batters, two hits and even Francona had enough and yanked his worthless ass, but the creme de la creme was having Pena bat in the ninth inning. Ever see anything more pathetic that that? Hey Theo, I know it is only one game but we do have some dead weight on our pitching staff and lineup. Now we have to wait a couple of days for redemption. It is going to be a long 50 hours from where I'm sitting. Thanks for listening my friends. Right now I am as pissed off as I could be. :( :(

Lynda seemed like a delightful woman and I could tell right off she was a real fan. Her brother was all Red Sox as well. Of course, when you said dedicated Sox fans what else more was needed to validate her as a person?

Jackson, are you really serious saying that Damon is a better ballplayer than Drew? Come off it my friend. If Drew stays healthy as he's been the past three seasons save that broken wrist in 2005, he will drive in a hell of alot more runs than Damon does. He also is twice the fielder Johnny is, a player who can play center as well as right, has a great arm and is a terrific athlete. And he doesn't have that fluke little league right field to shoot at like Damon does. I will bet you that Drew will outhit Damon this season. Besides, we needed a good No. 5 hitter, not a leadoff man. We have a good one in Lugo, and a f uture solid one in Jacoby Ellsbury.

EX, don't just tend to agree. AGREE WITH GUSTO. I saw this kid pitch and I would bet the garage and even one of the rooms in my house that Clay Bucholz is going to be one helluva pitcher for us in the very near future. He has moxie, command, and can throw his range of pitches any time he wants to with damn good control. I watched him and was very impressed. TB threw most of their starters against him and he threw four great innings and had a shaky fifth brought on by an opening batter error by Cora. Whether than upset the young man I can't say, but I can say I was very impressed with the kid. I sure as hell would take him in a flash over Delcarmen, Hansen, Piniero, and even Wakefield. He could be ready in a year to step into our rotation.

Kilo, you can say that again. I don't understand why Theo has had such good luck getting us some good offensive players but comes up boxcars in the bullpen. Looks like another possible washout with our relief corps. I was down at Fort Myers this past week and I can tell you that from my own eyes saw only Donnelly and Lopez looked like they are ready to go in and get three outs. Hansen was pathetic, Romero about the same and Piniero a broken work in stalled-progress. If I was in the ninth inning and couldn't use Jonathan, Donnelly is the only guy I would have confidence in giving the ball to with a one or two run lead.
