  1. I mentioned it, but did anyone bother to mention that once again Wily Mo Pena was a disaster in the outfield? A misplayed double over his head, and a ball of his glove for two base error in that critical fifth inning that led to three runs. Is there anyone out there that still insists this guy can play RF at Fenway, or any outfield position without either blowing a game or giving us all heart palpatations? The only one, apparently, is does is our stubborn shithole manager who keeps pusing the Pena button time and again. The grandslam he got against Baltimore? The four hits a few days later? Curses in disguise because it guaranteed him more chances to screw up in the field, and, believe me, this will happen again and again as long as this white elephant is part of our team. I thought a good night's sleep might cool me off where this guy is concerned but, no way Jose, it did not. Somehow, someway, this guy along with Taverez have got to go. I smelled a rat last night as soon as I heard Pena was in RF. I was hoping better from Taverez because I like the guy.
  2. Kilo, I have been spending most of my time on Dirt Dogs the past week, but if we can see our way clear to get a Red Sox win tomorrow I will be more than pleased to post a comment or two. We did have a nice road trip now that you mention it and the Yankees also lost tonight so things aren't as bad as they first seemed.
  3. Coco and the rest of my friends, I have not been getting E-Mail notices from any of you on my computer the past few days and that is why I have been remiss in answering some of your posts. I don't know why that happened but this morning when I logged in I had a boatload of messages that I didn't know I had. Last night was a bummer, pure and simple. We let the A's stick around and it cost us. Hopefully tonight we get our s*** together and beat them.
  4. Eighteeen yeszir! Now don't ask me how we got down from 19 to 18, but it had something to do with a more balanced schedule which I don't know what the hell they meant by that.
  5. Bite my tongue for even hinting it Coco, but I get the impression that our team is actually looking forward to playing the Yankees with no fear whatsoever. Well as long as we respect the Yankees and take the attitude that if we play our game we will win, well, then, that is ok with me. Never diss the Yankees is a smart adage, but some old time Red Sox fans (some on this board may care to comment) used to tell me how they always had deep reservations every time a Yankee series began. As you may know, this is only my seventh season being a Red Sox maniac and I don't seem to see that among Red Sox fans anymore. If anything, there seems to be a very cocky air about my Bosox colleagues.
  6. I just wonder if I am whistling in the dark to dare to expect a top flight performance from Juilan Taverez tomorrow afternoon? I mean if Igawa, who was pitching piss poor, could step up, is it asking too much for JT to give us a top flight start? I just tomorrow we remember how to hit. What the hell is wrong with Manny? This has been going on for too long with him. What the hell is his problem? And what's happened to Drew? We let the Yankees up today when they were down and I only hope we don't live to regret it. If we can bow our necks and come out of it with a win tomorrow we could chalk up this game to a bad experience. If we don't we have given the Yankees new life. I just wonder guys; did any of you start to get a wheezing feeling when Igawa came in and immediately got Big Papi to ground into a harmless double play? I told my wife Linda that I didn't like that and it got be worried from the get-go. Please, let's just beat the Yankees tomorrow.
  7. Not that I expected a homer from Crisp but those two last strikes were off the plate. You could see that plain as day. Still, with Farnsworth pumping them there why didn't Coco make an adjustment and move a tad closer to the plate. It was obvious they were going to pitch him there.
  8. Well, what do you know??? Romero does a good job. Nice going Romy. Now can we just start putting together four or five hits and redeem this game?
  9. Romero is now pitching???? Has Francona conceded the game? Listen good my friends....This guy isn't worth a s*** and the Yankees eat him up. I only hope he can keep the Yanks from scoring any more. And, of course, he walks his first man. Believe me, this guy is s*** warmed over.
  10. I would pinch hit for Mirabelli and do it quickly. This is the type of situation where he can tap one to the left of short for an easy double play. This must not happen. I hope it doesn't.
  11. The way I see it, Tim has to go out there and throw his "A" game pure and simple. If he can do that our chances of winning are increased substantially. Let's not knock Karstens either; let's just get him down and beat him. Let the Yankees do the talking. We have our own business to take care of. Dissing another team seldom works. Go out there and play our game and we should win. Do NOT allow the Yankees to get up. You ease on them and they can come back and kill you. Keep the good mojo going today. We can do it.
  12. Ever see Jacoby play HeadSox? The kid is pure honey. And he is tearing up his league where he is clearly way above the competition he is facing. Rushing him would not be good, I can see your point, but I think this young man is ready. I think he is that good.
  13. We sure as heck better not take the Yankees lightly. Every time we have they have comebacl and let us have it. Their rainout on Wednesday changed the dynamics of this series in that instead of getting Karstens in the opener we get Andy Pettitte who has had good success against us (13-5 lifetime). Out here some of my Dodger friends are moaning about how they lost three straight to the Giants at home after sweeping them up north. We had better make sure this does not happen to us. Matsuzaka has to pitch a helluva game tonight and we have to put some numbers on that scoreboard. Tomorrow we have to hope Tim is on his game because Sunday is probably very very dicey at best with Taverez ready to melt down as soon as he hits a batter or gives up an extra base hit. The Red Sox can let the Yankees right back into the thick of things by coming a cropper this weekend. We must not let that happen. As for the series itself, win tonight and worry about tomorrow tomorrow.
  14. I was at Dodger Stadium tonight taking in a game when the 2-1 score changed to 5-2 in a four run eighth and it made wonder if someone hit a big homer or something. When I got home I had this very sneaky suspicion that it could have been "our friend". I was hoping in an earlier post that he might get a single and double and drive in a couple of runs to day. He went one much better than that and we have to take our hats off to him to winning that game for us. However, I still have deep reservations about the guy. Maybe, though, he will start really doing something this weekend at YS to make up for that disastrous weekend he had the last time he played there. He did shut his detractors up tonight. Good for him.
  15. OK BoNat...... .I will cut you all the slack with respect to Wily Mo that you want. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I would be less than respectful of you if I said anything else. For what it's worth I hope you turn out to be right and come back and say I told you so. I just think.....well, never mind; I know you know what I think.
