  1. I despise the entire Knicks team except a couple of the young guys. I hate the rest more than any other players in the NBA...and I'm a diehard Knick fan. Someone just shoot me.
  2. I hate Kevin Millar. He's just an annoying little bugger. They showed a clip of him on the field during pregame in the 2004 ALCS and he sounded like a little chihuahua. I don't think I've hated anyone in baseball more than him.
  3. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/baseball/mlb/01/11/bonds.amphetamines/index.html I love the part where he throws his teammate under the bus. Can't believe Sabean decided to give this guy $20m. Guess he's still reeling from the Nathan/Liriano trade.
  4. It's a very good business decision specially considering you got Dice. Baseball wise though, some Yankees were clearly uncomfortable and blamed the trip for their sluggish start.
  5. I'm not sure about 98. But I do know his sinker hit 95-96 quite a few times that I watched him pitch. At least according to the respective radar guns anyway (and no they were not al at the Bronx ).
  6. I don't understand the drooling over Clemens. I'm just not a fan of him.
  7. Is it my imagination or does every single thread on this website sooner or later dissolve into a personal lovefest between these two? Can we get a moratorium on them posting for a least one week?
  8. He was also the leadoff hitter for us during 1998-2000. I'd say it worked out pretty well for us.
  9. We've had people like Stinett, Fasano, etc. Are you telling me that there is not one single catcher available ANYWHERE who isn't younger and better than these retreads?
  10. I honestly don't care how he did against the Red Sox, I just know he didn't bring it in the postseason. Most of the arguments here against the trade seems to be stemming from "well the Red Sox are so important that your players are measured by their performance against us". Sorry folks, that's just your egos talking. yes we would like to beat your asses in the regular season as frequently as possible, but we measure our players by their success in the playoffs. Cold hard fact. I hate this trade not because RJ was awesome or anything against the Sox (he wasn't), but because I was hoping for a backup catcher and I'm not enamored with any of the prospects we got.
  11. bleh...I think we coulda done better. I'll hold off until its' actually finalized becuase I'm hearing different things about how the prospects aren't determined yet.
  12. the FO of recent years before Cashman's resigning was controlled in large part by the Tampa Bay faction who had no clue what they were doing and effectively removed the arrchitect of the 90's dynasty (Stick) from the Boss' inner circle. They were largely comprised of old blowhards who had a serious hard-on for the Mets and Red Sox. The bloated contracts and $200M payroll is proof of that as well as the acquisitons of RJ, Giambi, Brown, etc. the FO, pre-Cashman reupping, lucked into a system and situation carefully built up from the ground by Stick and other good baseball people. Anything bad you have to say about them before 2005 I would completely agree with. You can change "seemed to have reacting to bostons efforts as opposed to developing a system of their own" to "They only knew how to OVERreact to bostons efforts as opposed to developing a system of their own"
  13. I think if Zito had signed with us, the reaction would have been more along the lines of "Cashman's not a good GM! All he does is outbid everyone!"
  14. I absolutely love David Ortiz's game. Not too crazy about him campaigning for MVP lats 2 years, but on the field, I fear him more than anyone else. I honeslty would also watch manny whereever he plays, the way the man hits, just wow.
  15. wow... I saw an article a week ago about how long term deals for pitchers have never worked out. Mike Hampton and Kevin Brown were a couple of examples. Anyone have anything to add or counter this argument?
  16. if you can get rid of dead weight for something in return, it is a great move. if your GM can get rid of Clement's salary and get prospects in return, I'd say that's a great move also.
  17. i'm confused...isn't dropping dead weight + not having to pay for salary + getting back prospects or someone to fill a need a great move? I think that's what he was pointing at. And please, I think it's about time we moved away from the payroll complaints.
  18. No, having better players makes for the better game.
  19. doh! in my defense, I posted that at 1:30AM and ORS, Joe only does that with Mo if it's a crucial game. I think most people would feel better with a set closer in the playoffs rather than a closer by bullpen situation. Although, I think the Blue Jays in the early 90's didn't really have a set closer. Anyone who remembers? I think they had Heinke and Ward both working 9th innings in close games.
  20. I love these threads. I especially would love it if Theo talked himself into another bullpen by closer situation. Really, I honestly would.
  21. Except for the one his momma gave him for being born ugly. Zing! /low brow humor in attempt to stave off jealousy
