  1. Thing is it'll be good to have some diversity in our rotation once Lester comes on up, so far all we have are power righties (meaning young pitcher such as Beckett, Papy)
  2. think before u throw, think
  3. I hope he's saying lock for the 2007 rotation, which he very well may be, but i dont think he'll get that much trust in half a season, if he even comes up this year.
  4. Theyre saying Lester could become better than Papelbon, afterall he dominated in AA, led the league in K's.
  5. Interesting article on the Yanks on ESPN.com today by Olney, you Yankee fans mite like it.
  6. Truth is I honestly don't know why he wants out, there's no good reason. If it's lack of privacy, move out of the f***in' Ritz in the middle of Boston. It can't be the media, becuase if he's willing to go to NY the media is just as bad there, It's not his family, because if he's willing to go to NY he'd be closer to his family, this guy makes absolutely no sense.
  7. If Luccino wants more power then hed be better off without a GM and just using the whole team he has. That's basically the whole reason Theo was rumored to leave, at least be consistent.
  8. According to the Globe Beattie is "leading". I swear to god if they sign him as our GM I will kill to Larry Luchhino. I'm happy with letting our Theo guys do the job if they can get Beckett.
  9. If we get him, i'd put our rotation right up there with the White Sox and depending on how everything plays out, we could get better than them by the end of this upcoming season.
  10. Do the Orioles not get it? Pitching wins, dumbasses, don't trade one of your most promising oung pitchers for another offensive guy.
  11. If they signed him just for the heck of it I'd be suprised, he's old, not consitent throughout his career, and they paid a heck of a lot for him. Yeah, that would be a sick and suprisingly young rotation. Also Lester would join em next year and would make for a sick 1-5 if Schilling stays for 2007 too. Beckett Schilling Zito Papelbon Lester It's almost perfect that Zito gets on the block, because that opens up a better trading partner over SD, this way we can unload Wells, and other spects, however I would not give anything major at all.
  12. My bad, I totally forgot, yea the ChiSox are solid 1-5, though I'm not sold theyll have the same great years they had last year.
  13. This is a GIANT step for the Mets, automatically replacing Looper with him gets them an easy 10 games at least. Along with Delgado they will have a nasty lineup. Only question there is the Starting Pitching, if they sign someone even decent, like Byrd, then they'll be my favorites in the NL East.
  14. I've heard the possibility that he has family issues and since they all live in NY, and everyone knows where he lives (The Ritz) that he is easily found and bothered by some members of his family, and that's why he wants to move to the West Coast.
  15. I love his last name and hes gunna be a great player, I'm with ya, however, the Sox brass might not be.
  16. More on the subject, in Bill James' book that he made in '04 he compared Beckett to Don Sutton by terms of win shares similarity. Sutton had his breakout year when he turned 26 and took off from there.
  17. ace doesnt mean a very good pitcher, because like I said, then the KC Royals wouldn'thave one. An Ace is the team's best pitcher, and last year that was Wakefield.
  18. Not every team has a bona-fide ace, such as KC, what riverside is saying is that he was the pitcher we could depend on, the pitcher that could stop the bleeding, and win big games, all of which Wake did.
  19. First of all, this is all if they play like they usually do, i never said we HAVE the best rotation i said we WILL HAVE the best rotation. Secondly, i dont remember the yankees supposedly having the best rotation and lineup at the begining of last year. The rotation had A LOT of questions, and we had had the best lineup the past two years. What I'm saying is, is that if Beckett doesn't get blisters, and can get 30 starts under his belt, along with the development of Papelbon, and Schilling coming back, we WILL have the best rotation in the AL. ALso, if Lowell hits his averaged 30 HRs and 100 RBIs, then we WILL have a VERY strong lineup. Then Mota, if he gets back to Dodger form, then we WILL have a much improved bullpen.
  20. Jesus, if all three play at their best, we have a WS team for sure. Basically all 3 were held back due to injuries and if all three start out healthy and on their games, we have a VERY solid 1-5 (if we re-sign Damon) a much improved bullpen with another hard-thrower, and as Olney said one of the if NOT the best rotation in the Amercian league. Lowell to me is not going to be a burden for the Sox at all, he gets an automatic boost with the Green Monster.
  21. Idk, I think Vlad, besides his injuries is a much better player than Manny overall. He's Manny plus the hustle
  22. First of all, he's 25, second of all, what was Javier Vazquez' record? 89-93? Oh but wait he was on the Expos, so it must not matter, but wait Jaret Wright is only 57-50? oh yeah, Pavano is 61-64.
  23. Yeah, I just read that article, at first I though we were goin for Texiera, I woulda just died.
  24. He was 13-12 with a 3.24 ERA, similar to Beckett except for the wins-loss total. Granted, Montreal isn't the greatest offensive team but he was 26 then, Beckett is 25.
  25. Thing is they keep comparing beckett to otehr NL pitchers that came over and failed, aka Vazquez, Brown, Pavano, etc. so they think he will do the same thing. they just don't get that Beckett is ONLY 25, and is already MUCH better than all of those guys.
