  1. Jim Kaat made the point that the Jays have danced around alot of hitters counts tonight. I think the reason why is that the Jays are using the Yankee agression at the plate against them. They have thrown ALOT of breaking balls in 3-1, 2-0, 2-1 counts. In that inning when the Yankees had the bases loaded A-Rod got a 3-0 breaking ball and he chased it. How many times do you see someone get a 3-0 breaking ball esp with Gary Sheffield on deck. They need to work guys like Walker and soon to be League the way they worked Lilly. Take pitches and make them work themself into trouble. Aside from that the Jays have done a good job keeping the Yankees at 4-0.
  2. I said sadly for Raffy. Not that I feel bad for him or that I feel he should be in.
  3. Can Nomar even play SS anymore? I've seen him at 3B this year.
  4. If I'm Palmerio at this point I pull a Mark Mcgwire and go into hidding. He has damaged his rep so bad I dont think it can be fixed even a little bit. What he should do is pray to god that the HOF voters somehow forget about this 5 years from now and vote for him. Sadly for Raffy that wont happen and he will be the first 500 HR player not in the HOF.
  5. You know if Palmeiro came out and said I'm sorry and I made a mistake his career might continue on. But no, he has to lie about the use of steroids and the steroid he took and then he blames it on a teamate. He ended his own career.
  6. agreed, I have always figured like all great match ups in boxing (Ali-Frazier)(Gatti-Ward)(Berrera-Moreles) the Yankees and the Red Sox would square off in a 3rd stright ALCS but our ALCS might be next week in Boston.
  7. The mark of a hot team. Gotta win everyday now.
  8. Yankees win 7-6 1 game up
  9. I agree, I think that will end up deciding it.
  10. I highly disagree. If you take Ortiz off the Red Sox and put Mariano on along with someone that has maybe half the numbers that Ortiz has the Red Sox would have that division clinched. Theres this idea out there that its Ortiz and then nothing else around him. He does have what might be the best RBI man of the past decade hitting behind him. Thats why I laugh when people say that if you took A-Rod off the Yankees they would be fine compared to the Red Sox but the Red Sox have better hitters in their line up. Yes Ortiz has gotten some big hits but come on. The Red Sox arent the Royals on the offensive side of the ball.
  11. I would send him back out.
  12. Can someone tell me how many pitches Mussina has? If its around the 70-80 mark I would send him back out. He has really went through the O's line up tonight rather easily.
  13. 3 run HR by Posada. f***ing UPPER DECK SHOT. 5-1!!! Hes back offensely.
  14. RBI single Matsui. 2-1 Yankees
  15. Instead he does the oppisite and serves a single into RF. lol
  16. Thats not really saying much. Rivera would be the most valuable player on any team he played on including the Red Sox. Having a lights out closer is VERY valuable. For the past decade the Yankees have been blessed to know that the 9th inning and on somedays the 8th inning are are taken care of. If you really want to give the award out based on its name then Rivera should have gotten it every year since 96 and including this year. With all of that said you cant take away from A-Rod just because he plays on the same team with some one who might just be the most valuable player ever to a team.
  17. Tino pulls a Buckner and its 1st and 3rd 2 outs. What the hell is going on with the defense? Mussina would be pitching a shutout if it werent for the crap behind him tonight.
  18. Chen doing a good job of changing speeds tonight. Just keep it at 1 Moose.
  19. Yankees getting blown away with the 86 mph heat. What are they looking for at the plate?
  20. That first inning was brutal. They gave you a gift and you return it right back.
  21. Chen blowing that 86 MPH right by the Yankees. Amazing what changing speeds can do.
  22. Yanks looked off-balence in that first inning.
  23. Yankees need to jump on Chen early and give Mussina some breathing room.
  24. I heard Tito does not want to throw Hansen into the fire this season. The way the Sox bullpen looks he might be forced too.
  25. Mussina will start today and if hes helthy he will start that Sunday game. Johnson will go that Saturday game. Torre has hinted that he will move Wang to Sunday which will set him up for that Friday night game in Fenway. So I would look for that series to be Wang vs Wells Johnson vs Schilling Mussina vs Wakefield I just dont think Torre would be that stupid to let the Red Sox get another crack at Small in Fenway esp since he has not pitched well in his last 3 starts.
