  1. I don't like Giambi getting his first start at 1B in a game like this. I could only imagine what he looks like when rusty in the field. And imagine if he got hurt...it'd be another knife for Steinbrenner to drive into Torre.
  2. Joe Torre is also day to day after scratching his brain (via his nose) during last night's loss.
  3. 2 to 1 Joe still starts Doug Mientkiewicz (probably in the cleanup spot.)
  4. http://nomaas.org/images/scarecrow_torre2.jpg If only he had a brain...
  5. Looking forward to seeing Matsui face Matsuzaka. I expect enough lights from camera flashes to light most of the Bronx.
  6. It was a promising start, I think. His nerves definitely were getting to him in the first inning and he got beat by some very good hitters (the kind of hitters they don't have at AA or AAA.) But he went out there and was pretty good until the horrible call in the 4th that lead to two more runs. His stuff was pretty impressive for a 20 year old. Now that he has the burdens that come with a first start out of the way, hopefully he can just go out there and pitch next time like he's capable of. It's a shame the Yankees have babied the kid during his entire minor league career; I would like to see him throw all of his pitches and be capable of being extended in a game.
  7. Al Leiter and Micheal Kay calling tonight's game...
  8. .....WHAT THE HELL? This must be a joke or an error... Unless he is like 10 for 10 with 9 HRs (has he hit that many in his career?) against who's pitching, there's no way this guy should be near the top of the lineup.
  9. I thought Burnett was pitching. Jeter's not playing tonight; Joe said he was going to, but he's not in the lineup. Ugh...got to see Cairo play...:thumbdown
  10. Torre just announced that Karstens will be going on Saturday.
  11. I think the Yankees should stick with Phil for tomorrow. While a Hughes - Matsuzaka matchup would certainly be entertaining, I'm much more comfortable with him starting off his career against the Blue Jays and whoever they put out there tomorrow. I think, especially since he pitched in Sunday's game, Pettitte could go on Friday without any issues. While I hate the game being rained out (nothing to watch on television now!) I do like the fact that, finally, the Yankee relievers will get a day off. Although Joe will probably have a few of them stay at the Stadium and throw an inning or two just for the heck of it.
  12. I think it's time for a win, period.
  13. AL: 1B: Travis Hafner 2B: Robinson Cano 3B: Alex Rodriguez SS: Micheal Young C: Joe Mauer OF: Vlad Guerrero OF: Grady Sizemore OF: Carl Crawford NL: 1B: Lance Berkman 2B: Chase Utley 3B: David Wright SS: Jimmy Rollins C: Brian McCann OF: Andruw Jones OF: Barry Bonds (I know...BOOOOOOO...) OF: Matt Holliday
  14. Seriously?!? Wow, I can not wait to see him pitch. He'll be facing a good offense, so I won't be expecting too much though.
  15. http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/1109/835/320/torre2cl.jpg Damn Cashman and Swindel for fighting for him after the pathetic loss in Detroit.
  16. 3 inning from Wright last night = Unacceptable I don't care if the Sox had batted around, with each and every one of them hitting a home run, you must get at least one or two more innings out of him. The Yankees should not be concerned with Chase Wright's confidence, which Torre used as his excuse, but the state of the bullpen. Honestly, has Torre been watching the games so far? If he was, he'd know that. He has got to go. Sooner rather than later.
  17. Wright will give back a few this inning.
  18. Was a warning given out after ARod was hit? I had the TV on mute (for obvious reasons.) I certainly hope not, there's no need for that in the first inning.
  19. I see Matsuzaka striking out somewhere between 10 and 15. Would not shock me one bit.
  20. The Daisukilo combination will certainly doom the Yankees.
  21. I would say, regardless of who made the thread, there's a 90% - 99% chance the Yankees get swept tonight. Which really wouldn't be a shock with where they are when it comes to injuries.
  22. Karstens is an idiot. That walk to Youkilis still has me fuming. With Ortiz on deck, there's no excuse for not throwing one right down the middle to Youk. The worst that could have happened was back to back shots...which would be no different than what ended up happening.
  23. I really don't think any player should be exempt from criticism. Mo just isn't getting the job done right now and it's just funny that it came after a spring when he put on quite the show for the media.
